Traffic fines in Western Cape to increase

Fines for some traffic offences in the Western Cape will increase, in some cases threefold, the province's transport department and traffic police said on Wednesday.

The new fines were an attempt to improve road safety and compliance and would come into effect on August 1, they said.

Western Cape traffic chief Kenny Africa said the offences were divided into three categories.

Except if you're a taxi - then you're free to do as you please. If the current laws were actually enforced, there would be no need to increase the fine amounts. They just again fail to address to the root issue, which is corruption and incompetence - taxi bosses slipping traffic heads a couple of bucks to look the other way, traffic cops who don't actually do anything other than ferry their families around town etc etc.
 
They make new laws yet nothing is ever truly solved...why????Because of taxi's,look at statistics,taxi's cause the majority of accidents on our roads.
