Two new Intel CPUs with surprising design coming in September

I still cannot understand why they would fuse them together. I hope AMD don't go that way otherwise my 2400 is going to have to last me longer than expected.

Why such a negative subtitle? Intel has stated that they are not doing away with LGA. BGA serves a certain segment of the market. They are ideal for embedded systems and application such as HTPCs etc.

Ah, so Intel is testing the water for their BGA plans before jumping in. It would be very interesting to see the uptake and benchmarks for these mopros (motherboard + processors).

I would be just a tad apprehensive buying a mobo/cpu combo that fuses together... Imagine the Mobo konks out, then you have to buy a whole new combo?

As things stand, with the continual socket changes with each generation, replacing your CPU means replacing your mobo as well.

Planning to build a new rig towards the end of the year, been using my intel Core2Duo 8400 for almost 4 years now.
Maybe a good time to switch to AMD?
