Ubisoft has clarified why The Crew isn’t coming to PS3 or Wii U, explaining that it decided to target the Xbox 360 for technical reasons.

“It’s actually because The Crew is originally built for the new generation of consoles,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told IGN. “So when the decision was made to port it to the previous generation of consoles, it was decided to focus solely on the platform closest to the new-gen’s technical infrastructure, which is the Xbox 360.”

Ubisoft is not currently working on a PS3 or Wii U version of The Crew.

Announced earlier today, The Crew on Xbox 360 is said to retain the features, scope, mission variety, and overall driving experience of the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions.

The Xbox 360 version is being developed by Asobo Studio with support from Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections. Asobo Studio, the French developer of several Disney-Pixar licenced games, also developed 2009 open-world racing game Fuel for Codemasters.

The Crew lands on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on November 11.

I wouldn't worry, what I played of the beta was a mediocre racing game with sloppy handling physics. I wouldn't bother even on "next-gen".

Next phase of PC closed beta is coming up, sign up!

And the PS4 and Xbone closed beta is coming in September.

I'll definitely be acquiring this for PS4.

I absolutely loved it. It's the first game where I actually used my G27 to its full potential and it feels great to me. The fact that you can find lots of famous landmarks across USA is also really cool. Can't wait for the next closed beta later this month.

Something about the handling really put me off, it's just not for me. :(

of course it's arcadey, but that's why I will be getting it.

Then I'll Project Cars too, for the realism.

Then I'll get Drive Club as well, for the mix between the two.

Nah it wasn't the arcadey handling. I really enjoyed the tight "arcadey" handling of NFS Most Wanted 2012. The Crews handling doesn't feel tight, it feels slow and loose.

Is it not something they might fix through the beta testing? Or was it really bad?

BY all account, I've watched a whole lot of beta gameplay videos and it appears alright. Granted it can't account for the actual feel of it, I'm #justsaying.
