Ubisoft: PC Gamers Are Important To Us

Massive publisher Ubisoft has always been at odds with PC gamers- it has consistently shoehorned the most draconian forms of DRM for PC versions of its popular games, its games usually get launched far later on PC, and when they do, the ports are almost always poor.

But it looks like they are trying to make amends- they recently joined the Open Gaming Alliance, and swore their commitment to the PC platform, and to PC gamers.

“PC gamers are important to Ubisoft, and we’re committed to better understanding and addressing their needs and to continually improving our relationship with them. By joining the OGA, we’re able to glean gamer insights from their research, learn from best practices in our industry, and contribute to the group’s upcoming initiatives,” they said.

Hopefully, they can walk the talk- Ubisoft has a terrible reputation with PC gamers, and they would do well to not irrevocably alienate a major portion of the gaming market.

Understanding your customers...are you kidding?

Retail 101. Deliver a quality product at a competitive price.

Ergo...make sure your games actually bloody work on the PC platform.

There. You understand PC gamers now.

After all these years you still can't understand pc gamers?? You weren't born yesterday ubisoft, just make a bloody game that works without it having more bugs than the amazon rain forest and boom you understand pc gamers. This feels like a PR stunt just so they can look as if they care, but lets hope i'm wrong, lets see if they can actually prove that they care.

Simple

Dont hurt the people that pay for games. If I buy a single player game allow me to play it without ever having to phone home, also Steam DRM is enough WTH do you force people to run both Steam + Uplay to play a game that was bought on the Steam store. Pirates have none of this crap.

I can live with bugs and all the other crap. If you do not fix above consider my ears blocked on all other promises, promotions and releases.

Oh please. Recycled PR bullsh*t.

After plugging this search term into Google: "ubisoft pc gamers important", and limiting the search to between August 2013 and October 2014, I came up with the following:

So they promised the same thing in August last year.

Then in November 2014, after the release of Ass Creed: Unity, Forbes wrote the following article:

It's time to boycott Ubisoft's PC games

So, what's really happening here is that we are just in the part of the PR cycle where they tell us how much they love us and how they are so sorry for all those other times they hurt us and how they'll never do it again so that we'll buy their games because "they really, really mean it this time, honest!". It's insulting.
