Ubisoft says Assassin’s Creed could go on forever

Its already starting to get old, this only confirms that they care about money more than they care about the games they produce.
Seeing as they have gotten such bad rep lately with their, "anti piracy we won't make games for pc anymore because its to difficult and producing console games is much easier and makes us a lot more cash campaign"

Suck it.

I dont think there are words for how much of a SHIT idea this is. Let it run its course then shelve it, even if just for a few years so we can forget about it and then rediscover it when ever.

I'm probably the only one that feels this way but I say bring it. As long as the games stay as good as they are and they innovate from time to time I'll keep buying them. Started AC2 (4th play-through now) again last night and after that it's Brotherhood and Revelations again.

if they go the zelda route release one every 3-4 years (and constantly innovating the franchise) then yes its possible, but releasing a game a year is definately milking the franchise to the bone.

I enjoy the AC series as much as the next person but yearly instalments will just hurt the IP.

That could work, but somehow I dont think thats what will happen. Every december we will get a new AC. If they Start with AC3 (new char, new era, new everything) and then build a 3 or 4 game series out of it like they did with AC2 then it could also work.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

I think it's cool to continue the idea of the franchise, but now that the Ezio storyline has ended they need to give AC3 a serious makeover.

Hookblades and bombs and such are cool, but I reckon it's time for something looks and feels like a new game, not a glorified DLC.

I think they should try a couple of new things in some of the new iterations. But then leave it alone, don't try to make a million games just to milk the pockets of the fans. In that way, it won't just be a money hungry machine, but it will remain in the hearts of the fans for years to come.

It`s a novel idea but it would be pointless. All good things have to come to an end. Dragging AC out just to cash in wont be a good idea

There is still a lot the IP can do, but one thing I agree on is a longer development cycle. But they did however a few months ago back the current "release a year" situation and did say that once Desmond's story ends they will change the release cycle. All we can do is to wait and see what they do.

You do realise that they have multiple studios working on AC at anu given time right. Finish Revelations and watch the credits, you'll see just how many people work on it. My point being they get a hell of a lot more man hours out of a year than most other developers because they have multiple studios working on the same thing.

Yes I do know that much. But still even then they haven't got the time to improve on their graphics engine and collision detection still does some pretty funny things from time to time which have persisted from AC II which haven't been fully addressed.

But they should def just let the AC series lay low for at least 2 years after AC III before booting it up. Will give them some time to make significant improvements to the engine rather than incremental improvements. Then maybe we can stop hearing the same old tired banter about it being another COD and having a dated engine -_- I grow tired of reading user reviews and seeing the same old comments about the same old issues.

Yay!
Ubisofy are moneygrubbing, filthy whores?!
SAY IT AINT SO!!!

Seriously? Guess I get to say it again...

I think you're confusing Ubisoft with Activision.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. As long as the games stay as good as they are they can keep on releasing them and I will keep on buying them. Hell, I would even buy a new AC game every 6 months if they could bring them out that fast.

@will1023631

I get you're point about the engine showing it's age and the comparisons between this and CoD, but the difference is even with the same engine Ubisoft keep adding shit to the AC games (hookblade, assasin apprentices, den defense, etc.) that justify the annual releases IMO. Also, their writing is some of the best in the industry and I really enjoy watching the interaction between characters in the cutscenes. I can't see that about o lot of other games. In fact, Uncharted is the only series that comes to mind.

You'll have to forgive him, he's pissed about Ubisoft not releasing I am Alive on PC and blaming Piracy.
I try just to ignore him.

The first four CoD games were also stellar and added tons to the series...

Interesting point you make there.

I guess it all comes to down to what Ubisoft do with Assassin's Creed III. I like to think they kept the same engine and made small improvements for Ezio's whole journey and that they have secretly been working on something big for the next numbered game in the series. I could be wrong of course, but we'll have to wait to see how it turns out.

This is possibly why they were thinking of new locations. But they would need to change more than just the setting.
