Well, they did have a long beta.

Also, the argument regarding player count seems viable. However, with recent launches not having gone smoothly, this game is bound to take a while to pick up speed.

As mentioned before, I did enjoy the Beta though.

No to release previews? It's because that's what they will release to the public - an unfinished sloppy mess. With Day 1 DLC, gotta get dat DLC...
