I’ve been thinking and arguing with myself again.
How many people actually need to own a computer? Mine is a luxury and is used for playing games, using the internet, and experimenting with photo manipulation and 3D graphics-and it does an adequate job at that at the moment. My main concern is ensuring that my computer is able to keep up with the latest games, but there again, I could just lower the detail settings or look for older titles that I have not played on GoG and STEAM.
There may be no rational reason, then, to sell off and replace older parts at all if I simply keep on using it until one or more parts fail. True, I shan’t receive anything for my old parts, but I should have accumulated a fair sum in the intervening time, and enjoy much-improved technology when the time to replace dead components comes.
