Hi guys can I please get your thoughts on this machine?
I also need to know what cooling it might need. I asked the guy who quoted me but he never said anything about it. The PSU size kind of freaks me out, I don't actually need more than 700W apparently.

I am mainly going to be using it for video editing, predominantly HD footage. As I am a gamer too I will no doubt be spending a few late nights "working".

PC Specs

Cougar 1000Watt PSU.
MSI Z68A-GD80 DDR3 GB LAN ATX S1155 ATX Motherboard.
Intel I7 2600 QC 3.4GHZ 8MB S1155 IGP 95W CPU.
Apacer 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ LDIMM PC3-10600 RAM.
Seagate 1TB 3.5" SATA3, 6GB/S 7200RPM, 32MB Hard Drive.
MSI N560GTX, 1GB DDR5, 256BIT, OC EDITION VGA Card.
LG BLU-RAY 10X BD-R/BD-RE SATA WRITER.
Samsung LED 23" 1920x1080, 5MS, D-SUB, DVI-D Monitor.
Logitech Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Combo MK260.
Windows PRO 7 SP1 64-BIT English 1PK DSP OEI DVD.

Total R18 660

any comments will be greatly appreciated:)

that price seems wrong some how ?

ok tell your friend who buys from pinnacle to choose better stuff.

you need a 560TI minimum.

1000w for this rig is not needed get as close to 800W as you can
2600K is needed,
8 GB of ram ( kingston hyber x Blue 1600Mhz ) is a good choice
BLu ray is your choice i wont waste money on it yet. Iknonik is having a sale on Win 7 ultimate retail at R1600 go have a look at that.

the rest seems good :D

Just one comment. Overpriced lol

Avoid MSI motherboards 1st of all.
i7 isn't needed at all, if the rig is for gaming the i5 2500K will be just as fast and faster in some cases. (will save you R800)
Asus P8P67 or Pro
8GB ram minimum for that price.
750W psu will be more than enough.
Why do you want a Blu ray writer?
Screw the 560, get a 6970 2GB
Why buy a samsung 23" LED? Acer 24" LED going for around R1900(fantastic screens, I own 3)
Win 7 Ultimate can be be bought for R1600 as cranky stated.

Joker builds pcs and has only had good feedback. Pm him maybe he can sort you out .

but 2 different posts and similar feedback means we are onto something :D

Ps:

i52500K is definitely fine for gaming atm .
6970 runs BF3 better than its Nvidia counter parts.

Is it just me or is there no case for this to go into?
That is very overpriced...

@Joker, he wants to use it for video editing not just gaming

I wouldn't pay anything over 17k for that

I still recommend sticking to the 2500K and overlcocking it to around 4.5Ghz

Also noticed no mention of a SSD in there?
Who is ripping you off? xD lol

So there pretty much isn't any point in ever going i7 2600k?
So no case, no ssd, gpu is only 560 not even Ti, yeah that is severely overpriced.
Bradbear, I strongly suggest you pm Joker.

Yip there is really no reason to get a 2600k. I own 2x 2600k's and 2x 2500k's
There is no difference in performance at all.

I'll work out how much it'll cost you to build something better than that abomination xD
Please do not go ahead with that build...Its way over priced for what you're getting.

that price seems over inflated, I do get prices from the suppliers on a regular basis as build my imaginary dream machine every month or so. ahhh wishful thinking, but I would deff get another quote on the hardware, I'd also look at getting a SSD for the OS and then run your data storage on the SATA's.

Should assist with the HD video editing as well!

So here is what I can do for roughly the same price:

Please note this is just a rough estimate.

Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4.5Ghz.
Antec Khuler 620 Closed loop water cooler.
Asus P8Z68-V Motherboard.
Kingston HyperX Blue 2x4GB DDRIII 1600.
Patriot PYRO (SATA 3) 120GB SSD.
Seagate Barracuda 7200 SATA 6Gb/s 1TB HDD.
Sapphire 6970 2GB.
Coolermaster GX 750w Psu.
Samsung 24" S24A350H LED.
Aerocool BX500 Evil Black edition Chassis.
LG BH10LS30 Blu-Ray writer.
Logitech Wireless KB + Mouse MK260.
Win 7 64bit Ultimate.

Let me know what you think. I think you'll notice in quite a few area's this is a much better rig for the money you plan on spending.

Hmm, if that is around the 18k mark then damn that is good. Just worked out some prices from one of my suppliers and, with missing case, hdd and water cooling unit I am sitting at just over 18k.
Nice one Joker :)
Maybe change the 120gb ss to a 60gb version and get a 3d 23" led or even go 27"? Just my suggestion since it is only OS and programs on solid state. With a system like this even games on regular hdd would be fine, surely?

Well its around the 18k mark, like I said a rough estimate. As for dropping the SSD size, yeah it could be done. Just think that he might want his video editing software on the os drive, and seeing as some video editing software can be quite large I reckon the 120 is the way to go. All up to the buyer of course. Oh and as for screen, I think a 24" is perfect for what he wants to do.

hey thanks guys, ya I thought I was being ripped off. My budget is R12 000 max. I gave the guy the specs of everything I wanted but he just ignored them and put in what looks like better components on paper.

I will be PM'ing Joker to see if we can organise something.

Thanks ALOT:)

its Bonus time, they're taking a big chance with you, get more quotes !!! Asus board perfect ram (2x4GB) 8Gb if dual channel Tri channel (3x4Gb) 12Gb, drop the power wattage as specified above, 1Gb for GPU is fine for video edditing(ur preferance), dont need a K processor i5 2500, if its a dual channel board, look at the "WD Caviar Green" 64mb cache (6Gb/s) "WD20EARX" 2Tb (get 2 drives if its work realated for redundacy Raid1) case with good ventelation use std cooling if not overclocking.

Tri channel on Sandy bridge?
You need a K cpu if you plan on overlcocking.
In case you haven't noticed 2x 1TB drives will cost around R2200..that a huge chunk of the budget gone.
To get the best out of sandy bridge you really do need to overclock.

Just a quick question, do you really need ultimate, wouldn't you just need home professional 64bit to support more than 8 gigs of RAM?

No - Tri channel for 1366 boards and up
If you plan overclocking then a K will be better - correct
Cheap for peace of mind....it was placed in brackets and not forced on anyone
and u realy would want to use a dual channel board for that too

Look nothin was posted in the intent to say..."Hey buddy u must get this", the intent was to keep ur options open, ask the correct questions and dont fall into a trap....we are all here to assist someone in he's request.

Have a nice day guys

Sorry Keyser...agreed Home premiun 64Bit will be fine (any 64Bit OS will access more the 4Gb ram) Utimate is a waste "In My View"
