US military wants your robots, offers $2 million

Wouldnt the cost of a proper humanoid robot be far more than the $2million prise?

Yes it would they are trying to get something cheap. And it will be used for combat if someone makes it. $2million is nothing but a piss in the ocean for something like that.

They obviously don't watch alot of movies. Robo Soldiers always end badly.

$2 million is a bit low for something that would probably change the way we live our lives, isn't it? I'd expect it to be more in line with $2 billion, if that little.

Its a prize for the first person to do it. I doubt they would expect you to hand over your blueprints for that amount.

^^^ The DoD would then give the company/person/machine a contract of alot more units and there is where the money lies.

But, I just don't get it. Why have the $2 million prize at all? Anyone who has the money to design a fully functional humanoid robot that meets the military's demands would consider that 2 million a drop in the ocean anyway.

Not really someone could be working by day and working as a hobby on a robot that might just do it. The requirements are a bit steep but its a challange.
