USB Extender Cable (repeater)

I bought a TRENDnet 5m usb extension cable a couple of years ago, its a 5m cable and works great, unlike most USB extension cables that drops out at about 3 meters, this one has a reaper built in. For example, I've used it for USB cams and USB modems at times when I needed distance.

Does anybody know where to get them now, or a similar product? Its been discontinued on takealot (bought it when it was still Take2 and Raru can import it but at stupid prices)

I would like this kind of cable, not the external powered hub like hardware you get. Using it for USB cams for backup cams on a laptop for when power goes of...yup, that time of the year coming up, so I dont want it running of external power, basically the camera system should be totally independent from the powergrid. When power pails, the laptop goes to battery until power comes back on and it'll charges again.

I got mine at titan-ice in Pta, and our buyer got me one at CTSS in Centurion, but they had to get from the supplier first.

yeah but the steam is bitch for the cameras, they dont last... :(
o.O

I just realised pron shower scenes are likely cold showers to prevent cameras from fogging up. That must suck.

Anyway moving swiftly along...USB cables. You could also buy a LAN<>USB and back again cable. Should be good for like 50m range (but probably not USB3).

Ahhhh, I have 1 of those, will scrounge around the office dusty store room, perhaps there might be another, if for nothing else just to see how it works. Great idea, thanks!

Want to give Matrix a call today.

So, to further my shower observation adventures, I managed to find the cable I was looking for at TakeAlot. I managed to make a 10m cable (joined 2 x 5m cables) and still get my MS LifeCam to work perfectly.

Thought I'd post this if someone needs these kind of cables. R169 for a 5 meter cable.
You do get the 10 meter cable, but I'm not sure if I'd risk the money on that.

Matrix was a bust, they were their normal helpful selfs...
