Valve's Dota 2 documentary is a massive hit

Really misleading title.. I thought it was about the actual free-to-play model and not pro-gamers I really don't care about.

The fact that an F2P title not only has the largest player base in the world but hosted a comp with the biggest payouts to date is pretty impressive. Especially for a F2P title, since those awards have always been held by the Starcraft, Counter-Strike and Arena games over the years.

Also it's a reference to the movie being free to play (watch).

I enjoyed the documentary, I just felt it focused a bit too heavily on the personal lives of the gamers instead of the actual competitive gaming scene

I think it was great to focus on that though. It not only shows us the dedication they have to their games, but it also shows eager fellows the world over that you don't need the latest and greatest rig to be competitive.
