Valve's Gabe Newell says "games may be too expensive"

Stuff that. He's the damn Yoda of gaming. He's got my support if ever he runs for president of anything that I can vote on :-P. But I do have to agree. I generally wait till games are in the bargain bin, because it feels nice to walk out with 3-5 PC games for the price of a brand new one, especially during the December holidays. And I mean the Steam specials are pretty killer, but it would be nice if retail copies could go for cheaper sooner, since you tend to walk around in the shops and then suddenly get this compulsion to buy a game but can't because the price is still R300 even after being on the shelf more than a year =/

I agree. Now i just wait for steam specials there a few exceptions like portal and i would be getting next sc2 but most of the new games ill wait for the price drop.(especially the cod titles they far to expensive for a 5 hour game and mutliplayer doesnt count if your gaming buddies dont also have inet to play online thanks to no lan)

they sure are too expensive. I also wait a year or so till the price drops. it sucks waiting so long though. really really sucks.

So... lemme get this right...

The man most of us see as the "Jesus of Gaming" only realized this NOW?!

Yeah.
Think about that for a minute...

Hey, their slow on the pickup. I mean Jesus only started performing miracles after hitting his 20's so there was also a delay. So they can just use the same excuse

Lmao.
The thought of signs all over Jerusalem, reading "Slow saviour at play", makes for a really awesome start to my day.

Actually he realised it over 2 years ago. This article is a little bit late. Also it didn't seem like their findings made much difference.

Hmmm valid point. Well then there goes my analogy ^_^. Still a pity this just went poof and games only got more expensive =/. But then again we aren't going to win anytime soon. Will still make an effort to lobby for an uncapped line and get a card that is supported by Steam. They still have some epic prices on games

I would so buy more games if they were cheaper, throwing R100-R150 at a game is super easy compared to R350+

Smart guy.
I myself don't go over R350 for a game... and even for R350, the game will have to be really good... something like a surprise party happening as soon as I put it into my computer. Otherwise I wait for the specials.
That is exactly the reason why I refuse to by Starcraft II, despite my fond memories of SC1.

He does have a point. If games were cheaper, many people would buy console games (just an example) new and not as pre-played. That would make more money for the developers/publishers...and it would keep that ass clown from Quantic Dream quiet for a while.

I was lucky enough to get SC2 in an Incredible corruption sale (R270) otherwise I wouldn't have it either. I'm able to accept R350 for a game but when it's R500 I cannot see any justification for such a ridiculous price.

Well I have noticed games have gotten slightly cheaper, especially on console. Of course some shops just rip us gamers off, but where we paid R600 minimum for Assassin's Creed 2 (even online), look at the price of AC Revelations, its ranging around R500. That's to be said about quite a few games releasing soon.
