Vampires: The Masquerade: Bloodlines

Now there is something we desperately need again. A vampire RPG!

I still recall going into the haunted house. The one where the children's toys would just start moving all by itself. Also the battle with the werewolf comes to mind.

There sure as hell was no sparkly vampires to found in this game!

Well you might be in luck, although not if you are looking for a single player RPG.

It is called "World of Darkness" , and hopefully coming this decade , made by the guys who brought us EVE Online.

CCP shows World of Darkness footage during EVE Fanfest
During EVE Fanfest, World of Darkness senior producer Chris McDonough showed off footage from the game and discussed some of the mechanics and the world.

Based on the tabletop White Wolf RPG , the game will focus on vampires with mages, werewolves and other additions to the universe being added after launch. The vampire factions in the game can take over various parts of the game world, control mortals and harvest their blood as the game’s main resource.

Vampire: TMB is still to date one of the best games I have ever played even considering the fact that it was so buggy and was not officially supported after release. I think it is the also one of the few games I have ever played through multiple times. And even if it was my 6th or 7th time, still get goosebumps on the Haunted House level.

My first character in that game was a Malkavian and still the best experience of that game, though I would recommend a normal playthrough first because the Malk responses were so whacked out I didn't even know what I was saying at the time haha.

I agree, we definitely need another Vampire RPG again - particularly one set in the White Wolf lore due to the variety of vamps on offer. Very sad that WoD was shelved, I think that done properly it would have done well, especially with all the vampire related mass hysteria going on now.

WOD is not coming out. It's been put on the backburners, effectively being shelved.

You might be reading old news? It is still on...

Speaking to Eurogamer at this year's CCP Fanfest in Reykjavik, chief marketing fficer David Reid confirmed that World of Darkness has a team of 60 staff working full-time on the title at the developer's Atlanta office.

The future of World of Darkness was cast into doubt as a result of the re-organisation that took place following CCP's troublesome launch of 2011's Incarna expansion. Until now, Eve Online and upcoming PS3-exclusive shooter Dust 514 had been publicly declared as the priority for the developer.

And there are still news coming out, like this

CCP Games, the Reykjavik, Iceland-headquartered developer of the space-faring MMO EVE Online, has rooted its success in a clear game design goal: to provide full sandbox gameplay designed to empower players to create emergent situations.

Now the company will use that design principle with its upcoming World of Darkness MMO. In development in its Atlanta, GA studio, and based on the White Wolf tabletop role playing IP of the same name, the game is headed up by creative director Reynir Hardarson (pictured).

A game being shelved, wouldn't talk about things like that...
