Premeditated violence during protests was worrying, President Jacob Zuma said during his state-of-the-nation address on Thursday.

"The right to protest, peacefully and unarmed, is enshrined in the Constitution. However, when protests threaten lives and property and destroy valuable infrastructure intended to serve the community, they undermine the very democracy that upholds the right to protest."

Well the police never do anything about violent protesters so why would they bother changing, maybe if you started arresting them we would see some change.

The sad thing is that even though people are unhappy with how things are run in this country, most people will still vote for the ANC.

Unless they win then this country will be fucked.

As for DA I don't trust them at all myself. All these political parties are dodgy.

This is true. But this is also because people have no real motivation to stay peaceful. We have all noted that violence results in firstly your platform having an immediate nationwide recognition; and secondly demands are negotiated at a faster rate by the government [in order to curtail further violence]. Knowing these things, they see no reason to begin with peace as violence furthers their ends better.
