Oh ... and to all the lazy bastards who think its too much effort to waste THEIR precious time to stand in the queue like the rest of SA, My bro drove 600km from PE to EL and back to vote.

what makes YOU so special?

Um well.....let's see....today I got the day off to go and cast a meaningless vote for my own perverse reasons.

DA ALL THE WAY! My parents know Lekota personally and COPE is definitely going into alliance with the DA if neither of them win the elections. If they stand together, then they will always outdo the ANC's choices in parliament, and apparently the IFP is also kop in een mus with the DA and COPE. So we're in for a helluva interesting government this time round.

Waldo, I don't that either the DA or COPE have a snowball's chance....

Make each potential voter write an exam [passmark 70%] in which they are quizzed on the various parties' policies and their ramifications and we might see some change.

It also might not hurt to ensure that only tax-payers get the vote.

It isn't as though I am being as unreasonable as the ancient Athenians when it eligibility to vote.

A valid point indeed... However, it ensured that the enriched few stayed enriched, while the peasants remained just that.

your votes surely wont ensure that your party wins (nationally mostly) but it will damnwell ensure the anc doesn't the 2/3's they need to run the country as they like ie change the constitution etc

i voted locally: DA
and nationally: VF+

Welcome to democracy :p

Fact of nature; some people are more equal than others. It pains me to think that people with an IQ half of mine have the same say in running the country.

I am not South African so I can't vote anyway, but if I could, I would vote for the DA. Reason being that Helen Zille is a strong, independent woman and stands for what I believe in.

One quirk I have with all the parties is that they all intend on improving education, etc but none of them wish to enforce a decent curriculum. The ACDP wants to change from OBE (outcomes-based education) to VBE (value-based education), but how does that help the SA citizens who want to study abroad?

South Africans have to write all kinds of crap to qualify. Why can't they just adopt the American K12 curriculum or the A-levels of Britain or something?
