Want to get second opinion on build

I've created this list with help from PCPartPicker.

I don't plan on adding additional graphics cards or overclocking, and I only need 4 SATA ports at most. As far as I can see the motherboard will suite my needs.

Just want a second opinion on the core components I'm going to use.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Asus H97M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
Power Supply: SeaSonic 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Personally I would get a bigger PSU and an additional normal HDD. Keep the SSD for your high end games and put media and lower end games on the other drive

Thanks Lothy.

I already have an extra HDD from my current PC I plan on using.

What size PSU do you think I should get?

I only plan on adding an extra HDD and perhaps later a wireless card. I also have about 5 fans on the machine and don't plan on adding an additional graphics card.

Most of my shared files are stored on another computer.

Keeping that in mind what PSU should I be looking for? Am I forgetting something?

I know there is an asus PSU calculator. Do a google search for it and then input all ur pc requirements (including fans) and it will give u a rough idea of the PSU u need. U can use that as a starting point.

Thanks for the idea to look for a PSU Calculator.

Based on their recommendations I only need a 500W (550W with extra HDD's, fans, tv tuner, etc). So I'll stay with the 620W.

The PSU is fine as is. You can get cheaper ram if not overclocking. I would buy 2x8gb though...I got 2x4 back in 2012 and that was a touch thin even then.

Just make sure the gfx will fit the case. Oh and thats a micro atx..is that intentional?

Micro ATX rocks man! I love my SFF gaming PC to bits, can't imagine having a monster case next to me.

Yep the micro atx is intentional. I didn't need a board with a bunch of (admittedly cool) features I don't plan on using.

I'll look to up my ram, something 1600Mhz range.

Its awesome having that tower next to ur table! Its not nice when u need to go to LANs and u have to lug that beast around... Thankfully my LANing days are long behind me.

I reckon that the Wattage on the PSU is fine, I'd say maybe consider a better brand for your PSU though?
like a Corsair CX600M ~R1070

Reason being that the system does hinge on the PSU, and a reliable PSU that is silver / Bronze might save you a a lot of wear & tear.
last thing you want is to buy a system and have a cheap PSU fry it all...

I agree. Good build but 250GB SSD will fill up quick. My favorite build would have the SSD and at least 1TB HDD for storage if not more. Also, the price difference for an 850w PSU is not too much and if you want to get another card on SLi you have the power spare.

Also if you are gonna go micro ATX make sure you build with air flow in mind. Like try to position your fans to push air through your machine in one direction. Otherwise you run the risk of overheating. Especially with a gaming PC the card is running at max most of the time so you wanna help it out as much as possible.

I'm with you! I do 3D animation and I love it when I rock up to a job with my tiny case that kicks the snot out of most other machines haha. The sleeper
