Ok starting a bit late but I'm ready to start playing but can't for the life of me find out what to buy first WOW cataclysm or what is the first thing I need I no its the ultimate n00b question but please what do i DO

I would wait. I think with the release of the new expansion (Mists of Pandaria) if you buy that you get all the previous expansions. Not 100% sure though since I haven't kept up with WoW news in a long time.

Nah, you still have to buy all the previous expansions. Burning Crusade now comes free as part of vanilla WoW, though.

Well, you don't have to buy all the expansions in one go in order to play the game. You just won't have access to all the expansion content. Me, for example, I still don't have Cataclysm.

Guild Wars 2 is MUCH better.

I played WoW for 6 years. From Beta until a week before Cata came out.

Basically this. GW2 is so much better than wow it is not even funny. Just make sure your pc can run it fine and then buy it ! WoW costs you R120 per month and all those expansions while GW2 costs you like R450 and you play for as long as you like. Even if cost wasnt an issue, i would still buy gw2.

Well, they're two entirely different games, so you're going to have to narrow it down. If you want to know which one is more worth buying regardless if genre, GW2 is much better value for money. Going to get a lot more time and enjoyment out of it.

Also subjective.

More enjoyment but definitely less time. WoW has x10 times more content than Gw2.

Compare Vanilla WoW with GW2.

Wait for Factions, Nightfall & EotN's content to get rolled out in future expansions then you can compare apples with apples.

I would happily pay subs for GW2 if they required it, the quality is THAT good...but the fact that they don't charge subs like WoW does is simply unfathomable, consdering the quality of this product.

I have loved playing WoW since '08, and it is a brilliant game in its own right, but I'm sticking with GW2.

Yeah, but you have to remember, Blizzard runs WoW. That's their MMO. It's the only one they make money off of. NCSoft has a ton of other MMOs from which they gain a steady income, so they can easily adopt a F2P model in GW2.

And what do you guys think about diablo 3 vs guild wars 2

Graal pretty much summed it up.

However, consider this - I bought Diablo III on launch date and sold my account a week later. So dunno if that helps.

Correct sir. It's unfair to compare WoW in it's entirety to GW2 as they have had ages to launch expansions.

I would also happily pay monthly subs for GW2.

WoW got too grindy. GW2 doesn't feel like grinding at all.
