So I have the Logitech Z5500 speakers, and recently I had the main cable chewed clean through by pets, I tried to get it repaired but it still does not work, I'm not sure if it is possible get just a control pod locally ? I see some of them on Ebay but don't have much knowledge on Ebay shipping to SA.

This is what I need to replace:

Does anyone know if logitech replaces items like this or if it needs to be bought separately ?

Is the cable separate or built-in?

Why don't you cut out the chewed portion and rewire it yourself. It's the power cable so it should take you 5 minutes.

Post a pic of the damage. Maybe someone here will have experience with fixing that type of thing? I've fixed headphones before so maybe this might be similar :D

I had an issue where the whole controllerPOD was dead, tried a different one from another set of a guy i know, but that did not work due to the PID mismatch as indicated on the pic above.

If you do not manage to get it working, on ebay there are some controllerpod bypass cables, to get the unit working without the POD. Sadly you wont have more control over the system anymore, as it's just straight through cables.

My first suggestion, go the DIY route as previously mentioned and try and fix the wiring yourself :)

I did get it repaired, I was going to do it myself but it was about 8 tiny different wires inside. Its not just the power cable, its also the audio cable. As you can see above there the audio input is on the back of the pod, then the big cable runs to the subwoofer where the 5 speakers are plugged in. The woofer is plugged into power, so that cable carries audio & power.

I got the thing repaired, so there is no more damage, but it doesn't work at all, it only gets power but no audio, tested other speakers and they work fine.

So now I need to replace the whole pod.

Looks like you have to try Ebay. All you have to pay is R19 and about 15% of the total value of the item at customs or the Post Office if they send you the slip.

Yup I think Ebay is the way to go, there seems to be cheaper versions of the controller available there.

There was one on bidorbuy for R2k :O
