Wanting to switch ISP

Donisia

Donsie
I am currently with mweb, i have a 4mb uncapped account but have been throttled every few days due to them having a rolling period instead of a monthly reset, which isp would be good to go through to avoid the slow internet and throttling?

I'm on 4mbps line speed and uncapped package with Crystal Web, haven't had a days issues. It's also worth mentioning that I have been with MWEB, WebAfrica and OpenWeb and found crystal to be my flavour of choice.

What sort of monthly usage do have Donisia? Have you considered looking for a comparable price-wise capped account maybe?

As for which ISP to switch to, I can't really comment on uncapped providers. Last uncapped account I used was about 4 years ago from TelkomInternet. Wasn't bad, but suffered the same sort of issues you're having with you MWeb account. Presently I and the wife's office use capped accounts from Afrihost, TelkomInternet, and VOX. To be fair they all have had occasional issues, but generally work equally well.

The results of a "Best ADSL ISP in South Africa" were posted on MyBroadband yesterday. Pretty limited detail in the tables, but the comments make for some funny reading. http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/153698-best-adsl-isp-in-south-africa-5.html

The thing is, if you're going to get uncapped and wish not to be shaped or throttled, be prepared to pay for their premium accounts. I'm paying R678pm for 4mbps uncapped incl line rental. I find I am never shaped or throttled, I can download what I want when I want, and stream Netflix all day every day without hassle.

I dont mind the throttling, but the rolling period screws customers around because if we do one large download, we suffer for a long while, i just want decent speeds and a monthly reset, not rolling period. We only use about 120/150 gigs a month

As far as I know Crystal Web doesn't do any rolling window like MWEB does, but afaik they will throttle/shape heavy users during peak hours.

I was thinking of axxess and the survey on MyBroadband just made me want to change more

We want uncapped in case we have a heavy usage month (new games to download) we generally use between 120-150gigs normally

Web Africa capped account FTW!!

im either going with axxess or vox telecom... looking at the fair usage policy and the prices im now leaning toward vox

I cannot comment on Vox as an uncapped provider, but I know their capped products are fantastic and I can barely get though my data in a month.

You'll probably get better performance without any throttling with a capped account, I'm on a 200GB account with Web Africa, and it's working better than the uncapped I had with them before, and if you have big downloads, do it overnight, they give you an extra 1000GB between 12 and 6 am.

Whats my best option if no ADSL is available? And not in range of Telkom LTE...

Have you tried other LTE providers? They probably all have different coverage. YOu can get MTN LTE from Afrihost, and get Afrihost plus to get stuff like double data, 2 for 1 topups and a free Simfy Africa account.

I've also heard that CellC has a good LTE offer on, but I can't find it on their site, might be this http://www.techcentral.co.za/cell-c-slashes-lte-broadband-prices/63961/

I did. Vodacom works but its costing me huge buckets of data to stream movies. Whats the general consensus in iBurst? Their packages seem legit on paper at least
