I've created a Steam Group for the 2011 game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (or just Space Marine, if you're one of those people who's into the whole brevity thing, you weirdo you), and I'd like to get some games going with people in South Africa. I really like this game, in case you can't tell.
This game has (in my opinion), a really fun multiplayer element, but unfortunately, it is peer to peer, meaning that if you want to have a good experience, you're pretty much limited to playing with people in the same country.
It's a competitive, class-based third person shooter/brawler, and you play as a sexy, stompy, Space Marine (genetically engineered super soldier in a massive suit of armor... yes, it's just as silly as it sounds, maybe even sillier!), you lucky dog you!
"Who cares?!" you may be asking yourself/your dog/your significant other/your sex doll... who indeed! Well, in order to get people interested, I've decided to start a competition of sorts. We're tentatively trying to get 2 teams of 8 (16 total players) to kill each other in a game of Annihilation (basically "death-match" with 2 teams), with prizes up for grabs for the "best" players as follows:
1st place (highest kill ratio): Steam game of your choice worth R400 - R500
2nd place: Steam game of your choice worth R300 - R400
3rd place: Steam game of your choice worth R200 - R300
The idea is to get people interested in the game again and to hopefully get a fun little community together to set up games, whenever/whatever. Even if you just pop in to play for the competition, that's fine too. If you have friends who play/own the game, send them an invite as well, if they're interested.
I may revise how the prizes are actually won, because it may be unfair to just give it to "the best player", if there are going to be newbies running around shooting at walls or blowing themselves up with grenades and whatnot. I am taking suggestions, and nothing is set in stone yet, at least with regards to how the prizes are actually won. FEEL FREE TO TELL ME HOW TO BEST GIVE YOU FREE STUFF!
