Watch Dogs official thread (PC and Console)

GTX 570, with an i7 950. Running everything on medium at 1920x1080. Runs well on my rig except for the micro-stutters that most people seam to be experiencing irrespective of graphics level.

Do you get the micro-stutters all the time? Mine start up after a few hours of playing.

AMD Phenom II X6 1075T Processor (6 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

I've done about an hour so far and it's not running well at all for me. On both the lowest or moderate-high settings the frame rate chugs hard times, especially while driving.

From what I've seen so far, in terms of the graphics, I can't see why this would be.

Previous Ubisoft games such as AC4 and Splinter Cell Blacklist ran very well on my rig, and those were seriously pretty games. Blacklist had superb lighting and shadows, and AC4 was vibrant, detailed, and boasted some great weather effects and of course the epic high-seas battles, which require some hefty processing to pull off.

Very sad that they didn't get this running as smoothly.

I'll try fiddle with some optimisation guides tomorrow, otherwise I might just be waiting for the patch to hopefully improve performance.
First thing you should do is drop it to 900p.When I started the game up I set it to 1080p and I was like oh no so I changed resolution first. My pc is very close to yours and I have mostly everything on high and it only drops below 30 fps in the spider Tank and when looking up lol.It is another Farcry3 for Amd cards sadly.

I get painful frame dips in interior areas, even small spaces like Aiden's house. When I hit the road, it becomes unplayable.

Cool, I'll try lowering the resolution. Really annoying to have to fight with a game to get it running in a halfway decent manner when you know your PC can handle it.

Only while driving, and at random intervals that aren't frequent enough to drive me mad. I haven't tried dropping the resolution to 900p or disabling the sound, apparently those help or eradicate the problem. Obviously disabling sound is only valid as a test.

Well I am gonna put all the bullshit to rest this week.

4930K @ 4.8Ghz (6 Cores + 6 Threads)
32GB Kingston Beast 2400
2x 250GB Samsung Evo in Raid
2x Asus GTX780Ti in Sli

So let's see how well this game is optimized...lol
I already know the answer, but just to prove it to the "Believers" lol

Okay, so my pc should be fixed up this week. One thing I am (or was) looking forward to is this game. Do I go out and buy it or wait a while for all the bullshit to subside?

Well that depends on your own personal buying style, personally I would either pre-order when I see a great deal, or alternatively wait for the first great deal. August sales should be around the corner, so maybe wait until then and see if you can get it for 33-40% off. By then most of the issues should also have been resolved.

That is an awesome cartoon though :D However you can replace uplay with Origin as well. Although Origin can never tag along with Steam, but you know what I meant.

Meh none of them of great IMO, just steam is the lesser evil.

So I finally got to experience Watch Dogs myself last night. Here is my first impression of the game:

- Installation went off smoothly with absolutely no problems. Authenticated the game via UPlay and started playing immediately after installation
- The Menu gave me serious mouse acceleration which was annoying, but not the end of the world
- The game looks amazing, even on high settings
- The city is so well designed and planned out. It truly feels like a living, breathing entity. The fact that almost all NPC's has a back story (when profiling them) creates a depth in the game unlike any other open world game I've ever played.
- The driving in the game is shit, and I don't like it. I'll probably get use to it though, but it bugged me quite a lot in my first few hours
- The story seems to be good, and the emotional weighting of the acting is quite good and comes through strong in game
- Gameplay is good. All the controls is easy to learn and get use to, and very quickly you'll get use to looking around for things to hack
- The game's performance is sluggish at best, and got some bad pop-in's, frame drops, stuttering etc through my play. The longer I played, the more worse the performance got, even though my PC was not over heating at all.

Overall, I've really enjoyed the time I've spent in the game, and will most certainly keep on playing it for the foreseeable future.

Come and join us on the gameplay thread, and post your nick there so we can join your game and borrow some of your info :P

Ok so after putting quite a bit of hours in this weekend, I can come back with the following.

The game is actually fun. I am enjoying the game beyond what I thought I would initially. Stuttering issues aside, the game looks good. Maybe not "next-gen good", but it still looks amazing at times, and the city is a pretty cool place to get lost in.

I found myself absorbing the atmosphere at various locations, just walking around and watching the people. The city is crafted quite well and you can see that the developers did indeed put a lot of time and effort into the surroundings.

The storyline is not as boring as many of the reviews claim. I actually find it quite interesting and I have come to like the main character, whom is not really the mopey douche the critics make him out to be. I also like the whole hacking theme of the game. Then again, that might just be subjective to me as I find hacking and networks interesting as it's in my line of work.

The digital trips are pretty fun as well. I would say that at least it's a nice distraction, but it doesn't steal the show.

So all in all, I would say that it's a decent game, by today's standards, or mine at least, but I would probably wait for a steam sale if I could suggest that.

If you are into open world games, you will definitely enjoy this.

The only really unacceptable thing for me at this stage is that I have a GTX780 and a GTX580 dedicated to PhysX and my game still stutters whilst driving and get random FPS drops sometimes for no apparent reason. It will happen randomly and then also of a sudden, the frame rate will go up again, still standing in the same area. So that pisses me off, but at least it's playable. If they can fix that with a patch, then that's great.

I would recommend waiting for a sale or a discount on the game, but- get this game eventually, it's definitely worth a playthrough or 2, but not worth the $60 price tag, in my honest opinion.
