Watch Dogs official thread (PC and Console)

I was actually going to post the exact same thing, but DuckKnuckle actually beat us both.

To all the people on the internet that suggested the downgrade was to keep a similar appearance accross all platofrms, it definitely seems like this wasn't the case. The fact that it's labeled as "E3", just shows Ubisoft's intention to get free hype via the whole "next gen" graphics thing. They knew that they weren't going to deliver on what was shown. It was their "vertical slice", or whatever they called it.

I'm pretty sure this is blatant false advertising now, showing something that you know you can't deliver and then bullshiting the customer into thinking that that is what they'll get. They couldn't even bother to try and hide their tracks, how lazy can you get. I feel bad for anyone who actually paid near full price for this.

You may see it as a positive that you can re-enable all the effects, but honestly you shouldn't have to. If you show something to the public, it is not unreasonable for them to expect to receive the thing you've just showed them. I'm sure that TC:The Division will have a similar fate. It would be different if during development, things had changed that forced them to do something else, but this isn't the case. Not to mention the fact that they lied about PC being the lead platform, it obviously wasn't.

The game looks great now, and with the improvements that the modders are going to continue making, it'll soon look even better, but this type of thing shouldn't be needed. This type of company behavior shouldn't be happening in 2014.

I have to say, despite all the graphical and technical issues on the PC, I've become disenchanted with this game. Its a nice distraction for me, but I just can't get into it. I've tried now over the weekend, and although is fairly enjoyable, I just can't get into it.

Anybody tried this yet

I quickly tried it last night, still a bit buggy, and I had to turn off DOF because it's way overdone now. Performance is also quite a bit worse with the mod, but I hope they keep improving the game with it.

Interesting. From my quick skim of the neogaf thread last night, some people were reporting framerate improvements? What card do you use - ATI or NVIDIA? I got the game for Father's Day (an epic tradition my wife has been upholding) but my PC just doesn't have the grunt to run it decently on nice settings. Anyway, hoping future patches (mods or official) will improve performance while I attend to some of my other backlog of games.

I have two Nvidia GTX670's. With the mod I get about 30fps, where before I think I got between 50 and 70. Will try to play around with it a bit more tonight.

I actually managed to finish it this weekend (Thank gawd, now I can play Wolfenstein) and I have to admit that even though the story was a bit watered down, it was still not a bad experience. I've had much worse, but I wouldn't recommend getting this game just yet. Best would be to wait for the modders to fix it up and make it look better, and of course, wait for a massive sale.

Also quite disenchanted with the game. Started out pretty excited, but my excitement turned into disappointment when I realized that this game could have been so much more. I was especially sad because of the graphical beauty of this game at times. The city is just amazing sometimes, and every single nook and cranny is detailed to the brim with small little things. I have honestly not seen this much detail in any open world game before. But man... the story and certain elements of the gameplay is just TOO watered down. There is soooo much they could have done differently and it makes me sad to think that I probably won't be doing a second run in this beautifully crafted, albeit soul-lacking world of Watchdogs.

I really, REALLY hope Ubisoft will produce in Dogwatch 2, learn from their mistakes and make the sequel as good as what this game was expected to be. And I'm pretty sure they are capable of doing so.

With that said, the missions were interesting enough to keep me going and even though the story was pretty meek, and somewhat nonsensical at times, I really wanted to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. They could have really fleshed it out a lot more had they assigned better writers to the storyline and plot, but hey.. next time. The ending was pure sequel bait, so needless to say, there's quite a few loose ends which I was hoping for some closure, but I guess we'll have to wait for the sequel.

Don't really know what else to say besides that this game has made me quite sad. Lol.

I tried the mod last night (0.7), performance seems the same, but it does look better than it did before. I'm glad he has sorted out the DOF as it isn't near as close as it used to be. Apparently more enhancements are coming including POM.

I'm probably about 70% through but I think I'm going to go with DieGrootHammer on this one. While it's enjoyable and keeps me occupied, I can't really say that I love it. It's not the kind of game that makes me itch to get off from work and go play it all night.

Totalbiscuit really sums up all my feelings toward this mess.

The modders have also found that there are certain animations that are labeled e3"animationname". One of them is called e3forcehandsup; the animation where Aiden raises his hand to the police, and activates the blackout function, which can be seen in the original e3 demo, but wasn't in the actual release.

Seriously Ubisoft? Not only did you remove graphical features, you removed animations as well. I hope this blows up big. It's about time Ubisoft got in trouble for their mistreatment of the PC community, there's been way too many botched ports and just general douchebaggery.

After the lukewarm response and this latest E3 mod/patch controversy, I wont be getting this game. I was expecting something amazing, that i was going to get on PC, and not console, because i thought it would one of those games that stands out from the rest. But it doesn't. Maybe I will get it once it goes on sale. But it has to be something special for me to bother with going through steam, to go through Ubisofts client.

You know what bothers me the most about this whole debacle? The fact that underneath all the issues, it's not even a good game. Sure, it's not bad, but there's nothing riveting about it. I don't start it up because I'm excited to play it, I start it up because I'll be damned if I don't at least try to squeeze some value out of my purchase.

It is one of the most 'meh' games I've played in a while. In fact, last week I started up GTA4 again after the umpteenth time that I got tired of Watchdogs. I finished GTA4 in about 5 days of playing non-stop (yai exam time). Watchdogs can barely hold my attention for more than 2 hours at a time.
