Watch Dogs teaches us how to hack!

I haven't read anything more cynical... this is absolutely hilarious that Americans can think this way.

Conservative political commentator Glenn Beck spoke out against Ubisoft's latest release Watch Dogs via the independent Libertarian news network The Blaze earlier this week, claiming the game teaches players how to hack in real life.

"The idea here is they are teaching you to hack and then become the ultimate voyeur in other people's lives, including their bedrooms, by hacking into their phones and everything," Beck said during a segment on violence in video games. Beck noted earlier on in the show that game series' Call of Duty had been said to teach the perpetrator of the 2011 Norway attacks how to shoot to kill.

"This game is teaching you to hack into whatever is docked in your bedroom. What the heck is wrong with us? What are we thinking? We are inviting this into our home and our lives. We are teaching our kids for entertainment purposes," Beck continued.

Watch Dogs plays with the notion of information warfare and civil liberties by dropping a gamer into the shoes of a modern-day hacker vigilante; However, users are not taught to hack in the real world. Instead players can "hack" in-game objects and citizens for information or special access. You can watch Beck's segment in full above.

Watch Dogs received an 8 out of 10 from Polygon this week, with a review that reads: "As an open world game, Watch Dogs provides 'enough' - enough side-quests, enough space, enough of a playground - to qualify, but it doesn't quite place. Other games have nailed a better balance in optional activities and large-scale ambiance, including other games from Ubisoft Montreal itself."

Yip been hacking since 1989...

The "Hacking" in Watch Dogs is pretty much Push a button or Connect the pipes.. #Hacker

Absolutely rediculous...

... so if I go out into town and pull out my phone and hold my Z button I'll instantly hack them.
I never knew it was so easy?!

Ah dude you have no idea, you should try it!!
Shouldn't admit this online but I recently held my Z button in and you'll never believe what happened...a Capital Z appeared on the screen...I was shocked...Didn't know they allowed things like this...but then again now that I've let the "hack" out the bag I am sure the NSA will crack down on it...

Need to destroy all my copies of Pipe dream and Pipe mania as well..Don't want to be caught with hacking software in my possession...

Bitch please, NSA been Z-hacking since '85.

Glenn Beck is a brain-dead imbecile who caters to an audience of bread-dead imbeciles.

I've always found the hysteria conservatives have around video game violence completely disproportionate to REAL issues in life.

If you assume that a franchise like CoD has sold over 15,000,000 games in total (again: assume), there are, it seems 32 incidents of violence/murder/whatever where video games have been involved in some way.

MILLIONS of copies sold; 32 "incidents." This is despite violent video games being around for over two decades, of no doubt reaching at least half-a-billion people in that time. Anyone seeing the hysteria here yet?

Now take the countless movies, music and TV shows (not to mention news reports ) that have largely inspired and glorified gangster, mob, criminal culture, etc in the world. How many incidents have occurred because of that influence?

Here's a hint: a lot more than video games could ever dream of.
