Watchmen Movie

I watched it on Monday and thought it was fantastic. Not having read the novel, I didn't have an pre-conceived ideas of what it would look like.

I just bought the novel off ReadersDen so I'm looking forward to reading it.
 
I went to watch The Watchmen this morning.

Wow! :eek:

This is by far the most bleak and disturbing film I have ever seen.

[Then again, I don't watch many movies.]
 
I thought this movie was excellent on very different levels to what we're used to.

The violence wasn't frequent, but when it was - it made up for it in no uncertain terms. The brutality made the heroes what they are. Tainted.

I quite enjoyed the new take on movies that it brought about - and the fact that the happy ending wasn't how we'd anticipate it to be. The way they died it into the whole political turmoil and sensitivity of that era was also done very well.

Many people might not like the movie for it's face value since they expect something different and/or are offended by CGI male organs - or the sex scenes I suppose, it didn't disturb me, but it would've made no difference to the movie if it was left out.
 
still not watched it...

...my plan was too watch it yesterday, but due to the 11hr LAN i attended on saturday and the doors on friday - sleep got the better of me

Yep, it sure is a different movie. Not your normal comic book movie.

There are even some thoughts on this movie being very closely tied to the New World Order and their plans for all of mankind.
Their 'plan' is also to annihilate a large % of the Earth's population, which is basically what the ending of the movie was about. Humanity in decay, world at war, nuke the planet and have Dr Manhattan (superhero that can escape and float in space) as the scapegoat = the world unites, people stand together and everyone is happy again (even though millions / billions of people died in the process). Sinister.

The actual comic was different. Anyway, the movie was still fairly accurate.

I bet most 'normal' people would side with Rorschach (not tolerating child molestors, standing up against evil men / actions), but instead he was made out to be the 'bad' guy (sort of) and was killed off.

But if Rorschach had been left to go on and possibly reveal that DR M was not behind the massive explosion, then the deaths of millions might have been in vain. He had to die, and DR M had to be the scape goat so that the world could have peace.

At least thats how I remember it.

Yes, that is exactly the point they wanted to make with the ending, they wanted to make it look like it was the 'best' decision, for everybody, based on the political environment it's a case of which of the lesser of two evils do you side with - 1/ world war III / decay of mankind or 2/ a few million have to die (possibly including you).

But the point is - who are you (one person in this case) to make the decision on who gets to die and who not. This is exactly the mentality of the NWO, they think and make decisions on your behalf, without asking for your permission. Lots of the decisions are either an intrusion of your privacy or life-altering / life-style decisions. So, they do affect you.

The world has a right to know, which is what Rorschach is all about.
One guy - Ozimandias - made the choice on behalf of millions on who had to die. He played the God role. He isn't one. He has a great mind, yes. He managed to out-think Dr Manhattan.

The comic book's end is different. It basically resulted in disagreeing with the above ideology and showing it is a failed system.
 
About the ending.....seems that we are left with the possibility that the cat might be let out of the bag despite the death of Rorschach,considering that he did mail his journal to a certain newspaper. One wonders what the reporter decided to do with that information,
 
Ye, I must agree. I immediately thought something else is coming, but then the movie went <FIN>.
It could either be an indication for a sequel, or just to show that the truth will come out, regardless of the attempts of Evil Men to smother their sinister deeds.
 
ok i guess i can see ur point there.... but i always for the girl characters were ther for the girls.....
 
Well, if someone spends a Truck_load of time watching his character in WoW for instance, might as well make it pretty-looking? :p :D
