Water Cooling 101

Flex

Will lift for boobs!
So since I have started building all my water cooled rigs and posted step by step pics of the builds, I have had LOTS of people wanting to move away from normal air cooled components to Water cooling.
There are a few things to consider and to take into account when wanting to move to water cooling.

Firstly there are 2 Options. AIO Units (AIO= All in one, meaning it is a sealed unit), and custom open loops.

Each with their pros and cons. In general AIO coolers are more common the custom open loops as they are easier to install and maintain. You don't have to mess around with the coolant, tubing or anything like that with a AIO cooler. There are AIO coolers that can expand from EK, but most of them can't expand so this means that the radiator on it is what you get and stuck with. Custom loop possibilities are ENDLESS, only limited by your case ( sometimes your room even ). You can have 3+ radiators in a loop, multiple reservoirs or pumps.
The benefits of a custom loop is that you have more control over how much water is getting cooled, and with more radiators = more fans you can run all your fans at much lower rpm being very silent to get the same temperature as one loud AIO unit with it's fan spinning its fans off.
Custom loops have one very big negative. You can't quickly connect/disconnect your cooling. It needs to be drained and removed piece by piece if you need to remove certain components for any reason.

I am an enthusiast builder, so for me I LOVE hard tubing custom loops so will go more into more detail in water cooling in another thread if there are people interested in here :)

Subbed . Interested in doing watercooling in my next upgrade. Want to go with a smaller build with good cooling.

Swheet! Next up will be how to choose the components for your build

So for AIO's, you would stick to those and stay away from your Corsairs and Coolermasters that you find on the online stores?

That is more for Custom or Expandable AIO loops.

For normal AIO loops Corsair and CM or awesome.

I had the H110i GTX cooler for a very long time, and it served me well.

Lots of people i speak to lately want to get these Riantjek AIO coolers, just because the look "cool"/ They have a transparent CPU Block, and can be opened to change the water color. BUT the V1 of these coolers had so many issues of cracking and leaking that it is not even funny.
So for AIO cooler,s CM, Corsair and EK are very good brands yeah.

If I can stop 1 person a month from flooding their PC then I am happy.
It is a real problem in this world which people are not aware of. Hardware gets soaked by ignorance and lack of common sense on a regular basis right around the world.
A study was done at the Bushfeld College in Springs in 1957 which showed that at least 85% of all hardware that got into contact with water got wet. So I am trying to raise awareness for this cause. Donations are also welcome to further help grow and promote this movement. Drink one glass of water a day to save a piece of hardware somewhere in the world.
