WAW: How to Tank and Anti-Tank

This is a series of tutorials for Call of Duty 5 - World At War that is designed to show how to butt-rape your way to success.

I'll start off with the generally most loathed and my personally most loved tactic. Tanks!

Maps that have tanks:
Selow: 2 panzers, 2 T-34s
Downfall: 2 Panzers, 2 T-34s
Outskirts: 1 Panzer, 2 T-34s
Roundhouse: 1 Panzer, 1 T-34

The important thing to remember is that a tank isn't the indestructible behemoth that 1st comes to mind when seeing one, they are very, very vulnerable when you know how to deal with them. I'll cover the methods for this 1st.

Tank vs Tank is the most obvious and effective way to dismantle armour in CoD5. It takes 5 shots from the main gun to destroy a fresh tank at the front, 4 at the sides and 3 to the rear.

Now you'd think the obvious perk to use is Ordinance Training to give the rate of fire advantage, but there is a more effective option. Stopping Power combined with Coaxial Machine-gun and using the right technique can destroy a tank from the front faster, even if you didn't manage to get the 1st shot off.

If you encounter an opposing tank immediately turn to face the tank, hold stationary and let loose with the main gun and coaxial MG, when MG stops firing from overheating, switch to the turret MG and keep the lead flowing and switch back as soon that overheats. Keep repeating the pattern and you should have destroyed the enemy before they can get the 5th shot off even with Ordinance Training.

Infantry vs Tank. This is harder and much more Dependant on luck, but it's not impossible if you play smart.
Here is the most effective set of weapons and perks to use against tanks:
DP-28 Machine-gun
Sticky Grenade
Smoke Grenade
Bazooka or satchel charges (Depending if you want to shoot fast or detonate later)
Stopping Power
Whatever other 3rd perk you like.

The DP-28 Machine-gun produces the most damage in the total amount of ammunition it carries than any other primary weapon in the game, and when concentrating fire on the rear armour with stopping power it can single handedly destroy a tank in 3 clips.

2 shots of the bazooka or both satchel charges followed by a sticky grenade can also take down a tank from the rear, each one has the same destructive power as the tank's main gun. Basic rule: 3 booms and it's bye bye.

Another great method for instant tank destruction is to toss a sticky into the hatch at the top of the tank, it will destroy any tank immediately. Of course this doesn't work if there's a gunner and the grenade sticks to his face instead of going inside.

The most important trick is to be sneaky an unpredictable around the tank, hide inside buildings, run in from the and sides and rear of where the turret is pointing, etc. Even better is if your team works together. 2 or 3 guys can easily overwhelm the slow and clumsy beast by distraction alone.

Tank vs Infantry is already easy, but if you're smart, you can end a round with 50+ kills and zero deaths.

Coaxial MG is again the most effective tank perk. The Panzer and T-34 are drastically different for this job. The T-34's coaxial MG cannot traverse from side to side, and you have turn the whole tank to try and aim it, needless to say, this very difficult to the point of near-impossibility, doubly so at long range. Always try and go for the Panzers, the MG's traverse is about 10 degrees in either direction and makes things much easier.

Selow is the most... Bountiful, map for tank users, the open fields, and lack of cover for infantry is a godsend. The best way to use the panzers is to stick to the half of the map the has the panzers have the enemy come to you, if either team is marginally better than the other in straight fighting, the enemy will pretty soon start to spawn around you, and you can proceed than mow them down at your leisure. Obviously your tank is gonna take a couple of dings, from anti-tank infantry, so make sure the other panzer on the map is clear, if your vehicle is starting to burn and smoke, pull back, get out and get into the fresh tank, blow up the old one so it can respawn for later use and continue the slaughter. If they come after you in their own tanks, well don't worry, you have the advantage if you make sure to follow the Tank vs Tank section.

Now go reap the death they sow with ignorance!
