We tested out Valve's HTC VR headset - it was awesome

Must say there are so many question and so few answers. Would love to see more of this over the next few months.

All of these various headsets leave me with one nagging problem, what about the large demographic of visually impaired individuals, I know these things all focus at infinity, at this point I swear I will get contacts and force myself to get used to them for this purpose.

Am I the only 1 that thinks these VR "headsets" look ridiculous? I mean that thing looks like a face hugger from aliens...

I wonder how heavy these things are and what it will do to you and ur neck after prolonged use?

I foresee many overly developed necks when these things are released.

This one was actually really light and it felt as though I could keep going for hours. The demo was probably around 10 minutes long and I felt no eye or neck strain.

I'll be interesting to test these devices for prolonged use, but we'll have to wait for the full commercial launch for that.

Jan, how pixellated do these things look? Did you feel weird after taking them off?

And will you be getting a VR headset for yourself when they are released? Any one of them.

I remember using a VR headset back in the late 1900's. I was at a computer expo, and they had one you could pay to try out. It wasn't just the headset though, think the Matrix with Neo waking up with all the tubes and wires in him :) All hooked up to an Amiga 3000. It was pretty cool, but you had to stand in a big ring shaped enclosure and couldn't turn more than 270 degrees without getting all tangles up (made shooting behind you tough).

So don't go calling these new VR headsets 'bulky' ;D

No pixellation. The only visual distortion was when I go really close to those little men/creatures in the RTS demo and things went a little out of focus as I crossed my eyes.

No nausea, no motion sickness, did not feel weird after taking them off.

I'm definitely keen. My only worry is that PC may not measure up in terms of system requirements. I guess we'll see when they launch.

Depending on price, I might get one of each, otherwise I'll wait a few months to see who gets the widest support. Another worry for me is the requirement of empty space in a room for the HTC Vive. How much empty space will games require?

Still, being able to move around the game by physically moving was a massive development. Will be interesting to see how it translates to a consumer device.

Jan do a step in real life = one step ingame?

You are officially the first person that I know that has tried a VR headset and you have sold it to me. :D I can't wait to get one!

So now I need a big field to play a FPS? Or are the maps built to have you circle back?

Paintball markers would be easier if the answer is field. :p

Having trouble wrapping my head around the walking bit

All you need is a room and this. If it works that I don't know.
