We want more black gamers in South African eSports

“Our real issue is that we are not engaging with the up and coming black market. There is this massive group of people who own the newest consoles but spend their time playing select games like FIFA, NBA, Need for Speed and Call of Duty.”

Well, fuck them then. Myself and the rest of our white clan (Just for the record.. that's just the way it happens to be, we don't care about skin colour, just mouse skills, so anyone with sick skills is welcome), will never Support MSI Events then if skin colour is so important to them.

We'll never move on as a nation if people keep making a deal out of skin colour like that statement from MSI clearly is.

It should be:
"Oh, you're a gamer? Awesome, welcome. That you're a gamer matters more to us here at MSI than skin, gender, race, sexual orientation, education or planet or origins."

Cynical mode on:

REALLY?

That is easy MSI - chuck 40 million gaming rigs at them - you just might get lucky ...

Cynical mode off:

To be honest - couldn't care what colour the bloke is, that I am playing with, as long as he is skilled, civil, and has a decent attitude ...

Thanks for the comment - it is very valuable un gauging whether we will run articles like this in future.
Hi Jan, My comments are in no way meant against MyGaming. Sorry if it seemed that way.

We're all just gamers. We want to pawn noobs, and gloat over our peers with epic replays. But it's all becoming such a political festival.. Mindsports keep playing the gender card, MSI focusing on the race cards.. and so many in between.
Worst is that we can't even compete internationally and say we're proud to be South African, because then we might get arrested on the trip back.

Isn't the whole point of gaming to just be a Username with rad skills? An arena where fat, skinny, ugly, George Clooney, and all that doesn't matter? A place where the quiet introvert can make a name for himself, even though he has a speech deficiency?

FWIW, I didn't read it as MSI focusing on the race card, but I can completely understand how people might differ from my reading of the interview.

Which is why these comments are valuable - it helps me gauge folks' reaction to the article.

It doesn't look like they're going to force people against their will to play, like a gaming dictatorship? Just create opportunity for people with no access to partake in these events.....right? Like a charity type event.

Now, can we get that toys back into the cot, please....:D

Wow... Had to go over the thread name twice to make sure I was reading it correctly :/
