WebAfrica 30GB + 100GB off peak ADSL promo

What latencies do you guys get with these accounts. I might consider getting this. Although I have Mweb uncapped with my 384kbs line, I get like 90-110 ping on Black Ops.

I don't even use as much as 30GB every month so this may actually be better.

This special + 4/10mbps line rental = 199 + 413 = 612.

You said you're paying R599 for 512k atm. So for R13 more you get a speed upgrade 512k->10mbps (exchange willing), an extra 30gb download, access to the WA NS (which rocks btw) and pure SAT3 b/w, not Seacom w/ fail-over. Still think it falls short? ;)

I'm also wary of this uncapped/shaping/FUP stuff, but thats just me.

Now...I just hope I didn't screw up the calc & talk BS. Damn 6 hour test today left me mentally exhausted FTL.

International latencies are excellent.

Local latencies on the other hand are a problem *if* you're in GP. Its a bit tricky/technical so bear with me. Most other ISP do their IPC breakout in JHB, WA uses CPT. The end result is that if a JHB player is connecting to a JHB server the latency is higher than on other ISPs (effectively all traffic gets routed via CPT). WA is considering changing it...but its tricky & expensive. I'm in PTA & connecting to a JHB server this routing difference adds about 30ms compared to say AH.

I'll put it this way.

Connecting to Aion using WA (shaped) - 250 - 350ms on average
Connecting to Aion using Afrihost (unshaped) - 550ms minimum, with spikes up to 950ms. On a good day.

WebAfrica gets my vote here. And as I said before - 30GB is more than enough for me.

I've still got most of my 10GB cap left from my original plan, and now I have another 30GB for the month. WIN!!

Of course, scheduling downloads are a pain in the ass - but whatever I start downloading at about 11pm I just throttle so the majority of the download happens after midnight. Worked fine for me last night. And I didn't notice any difference in my latencies playing Aion. So that's another win.

Wyvern, if you already have a WebAfrica account and client panel, I recommend standing by and waiting there, I'm sure that'll shave a few secs off the application. Just go to the add new services section and refresh until the special appears in the dropdown (it's near the bottom).

If you don't, then that button is your best bet, and I wish you luck.

The amount of epic whining happening on the myBB forums now is, for lack of a better word, epic. "WA Sucks, this offer sucks, WA is evil, WA is useless, their systems are broken etc etc etc" - I could write a book. All because they were probably just too slow by a few seconds, but god forbid they blame themselves in any way.
 
Bhwahahaha I saw that thread - they are being silly. I will try waiting in the client area then tonite and try my luck again. The extra 15gigs would make life so much easier. We normally dont go over 15gigs in anycase its just for those months where some ppl in the house abuse youtube and we have to get an extra gig or 2.

11pm -> 12am -> 1am ... 11am -> 12pm -> 1pm ;)

It used to be very confusing as well until I remembered that 12 = 0 and time starts at 0, not 1.

One of the options.

Select it in the first dropdown - then click add to cart, because nothing will show in the second dropdown before that. Then in the second dropdown select whatever it was called - there's only one option anyways.

Saw on mybb that WAJeff said that all the accounts were taken in 150 seconds yesterday.
