Any news on the Steam server?

Does anybody have the inside track on when their steam content server will be up and running?

Last update on the WA blog was 2 weeks ago:

We reconfigured the hardware to cater for additional content as we are planning to host the "full mirror content server". The upgrade and installation of the server back into the DC to my understanding was completed last night and is now awaiting Steam content installation from Valves side. As soon as that is completed and I have the information regarding the streaming time frame I will be sure to post here and update everyone on the forums as well :)

Give the guy a break, he's probably on leave till the 4th of January, same as the rest of us ;) I'm sure he'll give us an update when he's back.

On a side note, for another 11 hours, you can get mass effect for just $5. Awesomness is :D

They will let us know when it's running and how to make use of it. Tinman will have a news report on the day that it happens.

I don't understand what you mean by "too think ahead and a fool will deny it so help plz" sentence. For now it's best to wait and see how everything works when they let us know. :)

A steam account will make use of international authentication however once you start downloading from our server no bandwidth would be charged :)

Since the server is in the FreeZone this has the additional benefit of eliminating the need for setups using route sentry or other methods ;)

All the required details will be provided closer to launch however the initial test prognosis looks very very good :)

What are the odds of ever getting a local Auth-server? Is this possible at all?

Its an interesting idea which we can look into for the future, though I'm not sure whether that would or wouldn't be possible. The international cap that is used for authentication is very tiny, probably only a few bytes :) Prepaid packages are also included in the FreeZone enabled ADSL accounts ;)

The reason I'm asking is because when you're capped or on a local only account, the few bytes won't go through at all, unfortunately. :) Hope you'll get it, and kudo's on the content server going up inside Freezone!
