Western Digital Caviar Blue 2tb ?

I have been looking everywhere and cant find a single place in cape town that stocks it.

most of them have the green drives (which is not a good idea to use as a primary drive) and the black ones (which is orsome but pretty expensive) but no one has 2tb blue drives, only blues i have found are 1tb in size.

Yeah I can't find them anywhere around Cape Town either. I did see Wootware has the caviar black for R1730 for the 2tb which is a nice price.
What is your budget? Maybe look at getting a combination of 1tb hard drives?
But yeah best bet is someone like The Joker who deals directly with Rectron etc

Why do you specifically want the blue one if I may ask?

Surely a black one will do too (or even red depending on intended use)?

...not criticizing your choice, just curious.

intended use will be primary drive

Black = speed 7200 rpm (expensive)
Blue = budget 7200 rpm
Green = storage 5400 (5200) rpm
Red = I dont know much about the reds apart that its more suited for corporate usage (network storage etc)

The Green uses 'Intellipower', which is a marketing gimmick which means that it spins at 5200RPM all the time (not 5400), blues and blacks spin @ 7200 RPM

after some research it appears the 2 tb blues are only due later this year !

Dude primary drive should really be an ssd - makes a massive difference, esp if you known how to symlink.

Knowing what I know now, I'd roll with a 256gb+ SSD plus something like a WD red (/black/blue) for mass storage.

Even a 128 will do if it must be....seriously not hdds for primary anymore. The 256s are still pretty expensive - 128 is ok too just requires a bit more thinking.

* primary = OS drive plus crucial docs & high value games /w symlinks on large files

Nice idea, doesn't fit in a student budget so I'm waiting till I start getting paid so I can do it properly.
