to do a RMA by them does it need to be bought by them? according to WD the hard drive has in-limited warranty.

Take it back to the place of purchase. They will value the warranty on behalf WD

i don't know where the original place of purchase is as the drive is second hand...when i did a warranty check using the serial number the drive is still under warranty...
