What gaming backlit keyboard?

I was wondering if anyone can suggest a backlit gaming keyboard that won't break the bank im looking at spending between 500-700.

Thanks in advance.

From my own experiences go for Logitec and give MS a miss. BTW there was a recent mygaming article about keyboards...

Yes I'd have to agree with Cyber. Currently have a wireless Logitech KB and mouse and have had significantly less issues with them than my previous MS set whilst gaming. They aren't backlit but they sure as hell work very well.

BTW THIS is the article Cyber was referring to. Gives a good roundup of some of the locally available backlit KB's.

Nvm.........
Ive had a logitech g11 and g15...both were awesome keyboards.
But the key presses just felt hard.
Im now using a microsoft x4 and im loving it.
Backlight isnt too bright, soft key presses, macro keys and its been going strong for 8months now no issues.
Even after a spill or 2!
After the first spill on my g11, the backspace didnt work anymore.

Thats my 2 cents!

Maybe your spills were prejudice :D
I haven't had any luck with the MS hardware stuff.

Logitech G100

Can change the color from blue through to red and has 3 saveable settings.

Razor black widow.

It is a mech keyboard, which is a lot better to game with compared to rubber dome keyboards like the logitechs

If you don't know the difference... Just go to a computer store which has a meh keyboard and feel the brilliance

Also loving my Sidewinder X4 :P

I'm using a MS Sidewinder X6 which retails for about R600 I think and it is great. Still happy with it after a good 3/4 years of use.

I have the same keyboard, and it's really awesome. The only thing that gets me, and this is a very small matter, is that it's a bit big and you need a large bag for it when you go to a lan or something. Otherwise it's a solid build and the built in record button helps me a lot with work.

I cannot reiterate this enough... Try a mechanical keyboard. They are much better for most people. Most of them aren't flashy, especially not as flashy as the logitechs, but are just so much nicer to use and do retain some form factor with most incorporating backlighting and macros.

Ive just recently gone through the whole kb fiasco...

I ended up buying my first mech kb, a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. One of the sexiest kb's ive ever seen... I just didnt gel with it though, and the mech noise eventually got to me and Ive stuck it on gumtree. Waiting for a bite on that... ;)

replaced it with a Logitech G510 which is the baby brother of the Logitech G19.

best decision I've made PC wise in a long time

There are non-click type mechs if that is what you prefer.

All the people i know hate on rubber dome after getting a mech.
