What is the best game you played but didn't enjoy?

The Binding of Isaac -.- Didn't get that game at all.
Anno 2070 - I was so excited when I bought this game but I never really got the hang of it. Should try it again sometime, maybe.
Dota 2 - Tried the game, love the Broodmother, but that's about it...

Mine was the first bioshock. Just didn't enjoy it.

Also, Alan Wake - as soon as he was a dick to his wife I could no longer portray him in the game.

Borderlands (or Snore-derlands - as Yahtzee has called it). I remember being so amped for the game, when I saw it demoed at r@ge that sealed the deal and I pre-ordered it. Was great at first and then I began to dread playing it when my friends wanted to jam it at a LAN. Run, run, run, shoot, shoot, things die, run to next area, rinse repeat. Also it was one of the only FPS's that gave me motion sickness.

Strangely though I decided to give the 2nd game a try and finding it a bit more enjoyable (and I can change the FOV thank goodness!)

Without knowing the background you just won't be able to spot the specific things that make it great. Realistically it either need to appeal to you as is (clearly it didn't) or you need to have read the Ayn Rand books - specifically Atlas shrugged. Here let me illustrate:

Many things make more sense after that. e.g. picking up a pack of smoke increases EVE but reduces health. Now read the following Ayn Rand quote:
I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours
So yeah that helps. Be warned though...Ayn Rand is not an easy read & many don't like it - you've been warned.

Anno 2070
The AI/guidance seems a bit overbearing. At times I feel like telling it to f off and let me play.

Totally agreed...

I became so bored with 2070... There was just something about it that stopped being fun as well, but I couldn't put my finger on it. It seemed huge and as though it had so much possibility... And then it became tedious and unfun and uninspired and just MEH...

Well I guess they over compensated. Last Anno was like...flashing warning message "complete the mission". Me like...what fckin mission and if mission then what & where?!? " You failed to complete the mission in the allocated time"...me like o_O.

Hmmm let's see..
Borderlands.
Flight Sims
The Sims
Starcraft
FIFA/PES or any sport game for that matter.
Halo
Yup, that's about it.

Diablo 3 was mine

Was expecting it to be an upgrade of diablo 2 with better graphics but got disappointed after playing it, since every good thing from Diablo 2 got taken out and got replaced by the RMAH, bad loot drops and mechanics.

Hope the expansion improves the game so I can start enjoying Diablo 3.

I agree with Bioshock infinite. I don't see where all the fuss came from. I've tried two more times to finish it but haven't been able to yet, maybe I won't. Tedious as Pooky said. Story doesn't count for much if the gameplay puts you off playing.

I TOTALLY AGREE! I get so much crap from everyone for not loving it but I didnt. I had tried bioshock one and got bored of it when I found out the big daddies just took a whole lot of your own deaths to kill so I thought Infinite would be better. As soon as I saw her opening portals I knew what the storyline would be (parallel universes always have the same storyline.) I finished it but Best FPS of all time? Not a chance. Modern Warfare 2 will always have that title.

I tend to be really picky though so I always thought it was only me. Nice to find some like minded peoples.

my list would be:

----- GTA 4 -----
Dota 2 --- this is mostly due to the people that i get stuck with in a team.
Hitman Absolution -- did not enjoy it.
The witcher 1 -- did not enjoy it.
Demon Souls -- did not enjoy it.
Amnesia -- did not enjoy it.
Payday -- did not enjoy it.

I also cannot get myself to play borderlands longer than perhaps 30min at a time.

Two games that comes to mind in this category is:

Deus Ex Invisible War - After the absolute magnificence that was Deus Ex the first, I felt horribly disappointed at the game. It didn't capture the same magic as the first game, but still critics gave it very high scores.

Battlefield 3 - I'm probably going to geek-hell for saying that, but I really did not enjoy Battlefield. Yes the graphics are good, yes the multiplayer seems fun, but I've never had any good experience with the game at all. Which doesn't make me all that excited about the next instalment as well.

Half Life 2 - probably because I only played it last year for the first time but I could not get into it - did finish portal though and that was fun!

Assassin's Creed. That bored the hell out of me. I skipped all the following iterations because I could not stand playing that series again.

I agree with Half-life 2. I did finish it, but I wasn't blown away. I honestly think people are either going to hate a new half-life because it won't be able to live up to the expectations or be blinded by Nostalgia.

For me the 1st Bioshocks, and I've read Ayn Rand (Someone mentioned it before), didnt make me enjoy the game any more.

Mine is definitely Bioshock Infinite, I genuinely abhor the gameplay (specifically the combat) and everything designed around it. Simply put? Brilliant Story, terrible gameplay IMO. It's just not fun :/

yep the first Bioshock was tremendously dissapointing for me too. Never finished it.

I also didnt like Gears of War Judgement. finishing it was a chore.
