What movie did you last watch thread.

I watched Paul for about the 10th time. Great film. I'd say it's easily my favourite Pegg and Frost film.

I also saw Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. It's a film in the same vein as The Brothers Grimm. This one also had Peter Stormare in it. :)
I didn't really enjoy it that much, I have to say. Trying to take artistic licence with classic stories such as this seems like a good idea, but in practice it usually flops.

I went to see Man of Steel in 3D Saturday night. It was good and I think it is worth watching, but there are just a few stuff that I didn't like about the movie as it doesn't correspond to the real Superman, but other than that it was a good movie.

Europa Report

An international crew of astronauts undertakes a privately funded mission to search for life on Jupiter's fourth largest moon.

It is a found footage film setup to look like a documentary - it was pretty cool flick, with two Saffas in the cast (Embeth Davidtz is technically a Yank) and a interesting enough concept.

The people at IMDB suggest 6.4 I say that is fair-ish would like a higher 6 but not quite a 7 - still worth a look :D

Lone Ranger - it's a mess. Don't bother with it. The actors are brilliant but film itself is just horrible.

It wasn't that bad, not sure what the critics' problem is. I've seen much worse movies doing alot better. Yes, it dragged in the middle, but when that classic theme song came out and they started busting some moves i was getting very nostalgic ;). The younger generation might not have any clue though,

This song for those that don't know:

Lucky number Slevin, never watched it before so my roommate put it on, I have to say I was unimpressed by it. I had the plot 90% figured out way before the big reveal and the big reveal was way too long. I just didn't enjoy it and that was surprising to who loves the movie.

I would give it 6 out of 10 - probably deserves a bit more but I'm not one for fractions.

Except for the nostalgia, the rest is very bad.

The visuals, pace and tone of the film makes it feel like one of those art films with a "lesson for humanity" buried in it. Then comes the "end fight" and the visuals light up, the happy William Tell music starts playing - action every where!!! It just doesn't fit together.

And the characters in the movie are like a thin layer caramel on top of a very piece of dry cake. You SO want to "love" Tonto and the Lone Ranger himself but they just never grow on you.

...take Johnny Depp and his one liner brilliance ("horse definitely stupid" :D) out of the film and replace him with somebody else and what are you left with?

You just don't expect this kinda film from those calibre actors with THAT budget :(

Sounds like nothing but a Johnny Depp vehicle.
I haven't watched it, but I've read reviews where it is torn to shreds.

Just watched the secret window... also starring johnny depp in the lead role. Based on a stephen king novel. Very good!

Currently watching Stardust, still one of my favourite movies around, really wish a sequel would come out.
Also downloaded Head above Water from the Samsung Video Hub, will be checking that out soon.

I watched TinTin in 3d on my Tv the other day and enjoyed the plot and 3d a lot :D.

Also watched in 3d
Frankenweenie
Hotel Transylvania
Monsters Inc

The Croods

Cool animated movie - I love animated movies and this one was cool, story is about a stone age family where the father is over protective and the daughter wants to explore the world around her, which for some continental drift type deal is collapsing around her.

8/10 - I'll bump it down to 7 if there is 4 sequels like the Shreks and Ice Ages of modern animation movies :D

The Killing Season
John Travolta & Robert de Niro

epic right??? not so much, wasn't bad but, but a little rehashed with predictable outcomes, certainly not what you expect from these two legendary actors
