What movie/tv series would you to like a game to be based on?

In this thread post which movie(s) or tv serie(s) you would to see in a game and why? I would like:

Inception- loved the movie, a game could be made about the concept of dreams seen in this movie.
Heroes- this series became boring towards the end, but superheroes-'nuff said
The Departed- my favourite movie of all time, I think the whole-rat and mole trying to discover each other-thing would be awesome in a game.

That's all I can think of for now- will probably post again later

None.

A better question would be which types of narratives would you like explored in games. For me that Quantic Dream tech demo really got me craving a 'who am I' 'meaning of life' game, kind of exploring what it means to be human. It could be really interesting although I'm not sure if it would get made considering how testosterone roller-coasters seem to be the game of choice for the moment.

NONE.

Game are games, Movies are Movies and tv series are, yep you guessed it TV series.

The reason all Game to movie, movie to game adaptation suck isn't for lack of trying, its that your either going to end up retreading what has been done in either the game or film. Or the producer/director/designer interprets the IP differently where up Nerd Rage ensues.

I would much rather have an original IP, even if it borrows from established trends.

If you want a adaptation to work you need to set it in the extended universe, this is, IMHO, the reason KOTOR was such a huge hit. Not only was it a great game but it took the player to an entirely new part of an established universe. It is also the reasons films like Prince of Persia, Doom, FarCry, Alone in the Dark and many other Game to movie conversions sucked (that and Uwe Boil was involved), the movie either retraced the games steps or re-interpreted it.

A good example of a game to series adoption is HellJumper (a fan made Halo web series) it doesn't follow any of the games and is set in a unknows part of the universe. It does tread a little too close to the established cannon in the Cotact Harvest Novel but its still better than most.

Sad but so true. Original Ideas are so hard to get greenlit its not even funny. The issue is people are more likely to buy an established title that appeals to the masses than a new IP which may not tick all the boxes. Why I so avidly support Kingdom's of Amalur. Sure not the greatest game and it borrows alot but at least it is original in its presentation.

I loved Heavy Rain's unique, if somewhat flawed, gameplay.

I enjoyed the silent hill movie but it went over the producers heads.
Silent hill was not a straight forward story.

spoiler
In the game it hints that you are insane and have committed a murder and you are trying to justify it.

Something you can do in a movie but its extremely hard to get it right.

None.... this is always a train smash.... although there have been a couple of diamonds in the rought....

a Good example was Chronicles of Riddick.
The Games fits in between and around the movies and completes the story.

I want a Lucas Arts style game ( Grim Fandango , Monkey Island series etc) based on the movie Fear and Loathing Las Vegas.

I wouldn't mind a "Dark Angel" game.

3rd person with genetic manipulation in a sub-human world..

Spartacus would make an awesome fighter/fps.

Jericho has so many options, I'm just a sucker for the post apocalyptic.

There was one but I read it was terrible and for PS2.

Something resembling a plot... Most of what I remember of it never made any sense or every really got anywhere. Plus Jessica Alba looks good but her acting has never really done it for me.

It always boggled my mind that it got 2 full seasons and Firefly only got 14 Episodes.

I watched it as a kid, and again last year, there was a drive to keep watching, a whats going to happen next feeling? But I can respect that you didn't like it, I loved Firefly and ironically they where both on the same slot, (Firefly replacing Dark Angel) which it seem has a reputation of killing the shows placed there.

Most of the series I enjoyed as a child I now find boring and dull. So I avoid them.

Something I want to see... Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome

Me too..

I was actually thinking like a MMO based on that with a mix of Mad Max.

Different clans fighting over materials, raiding towns etc. Pimping up your rides with armor and weapons.

Mhm... I actually have a lot of ideas based on that.

Obviously it would be PvP based :P

I never enjoyed that series.

Pretty sure there is a disc world game!? Ok, it's not a tv series or movie but I would love to see a Brandon Sanderson mistborn game!
