What next after the Zombie Open world Survival games?

What comes after all the Zombie Open world Survival games?

We've had Zombie games, they've been a staple for ages now. Then we've had open world survival games crossed with zombies too.

So what could we see next?
 
I think there could still be a giant supply of material for alien themed games.

Open world zombie survival in a steampunk setting....
 
It seems the same horror/bad guy tropes come in and out of fashion every few years. Its either zombies, vampires, pirates, aliens, mummies, dinosaurs, gangsters or just your garden variety monsters. I would say we've gone through a couple, but monsters and pirates are up for a resurgence. Imagine an open world crafting game, with elements of Battle royal style gameplay, fighting against wave based monsters attaching a group of players...

Look, If you want me to install Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide I can.

Assassins Creed has you cover with Pirates I think.

Now thats an idea though. Nightmare Creatures in an open world setting.

The first Prey game with the native american Indian guy was such a cool take on an Alien invasion... Why dont we get more of that shit...
