What was the first game you ever FINISHED

MetalSoup

There's a GIF for that
What was the first single player (or co-op) game you ever played all the way through? Can you even remember?

I'm not talking about 100% achievements or any of that nonsense, just a game that you played all the way till the credits showed up.

What platform was it?
Did you play it again afterwards?
Did you even know that games could have endings at the time?

- Half-life
- Have played it again since I finished it in the late 90's but have not bothered to play it again. However 2nd time was with Godmode and all that jazz:D

- When a game becomes too long in the tooth, I know it's near the end

Whew MetalSoup, that's a tough one!

I can't actually remember the first game that I finished. I do remember one of the first though: The Island of Dr Brain. I remember that one specifically because I wanted an adventure game for my birthday when I was young and finally we went to the store and I could pick a game. I ended up picking The Island of Dr Brain because it sounded all mysterious. Unfortunately the game wasn't very long and I finished it in a couple of hours which was very disappointing.

Which platform? PC - Windows.
I never played it again but I still have the box with its floppies here in a cupboard. :)
Hehe and yeah I knew that games had endings at that stage.

1) I think the first game i ever finished, not 100% sure on that, was Timeshift
2) For a few minutes, yes. But couldn't convince myself that it was worth playing again.
3) The story naturally started to hint it was nearing the end, so yea.

The first game I ever finished was Rockman/Megaman on the Golden China game system. It certainly wasn't the first game I ever played but it was definitely the first one I ever finished, and I must have played through it and the other Rockman games that I owned (1 to 4) dozens of times. Such fond memories, I still hum the music frequently.

Ah man I can't really remember the first game I finished. I think it may be Super Mario Bro's 3.

Quite frankly, I think there are not a lot of games that I've actually played up to finish. Most of the time I either get frustrated at difficult parts, or I lose interest.

Space Quest - PC - in CGA goodness

I remember playing Space Quest, but I could never properly play as seeing as I was 6 years old and didn't really know how to play it.

First game i ever finished was Mario on the old 8bit TV games and Prince o Persia on my old mono chrome XT Pc :p

Fable the lost chapters, on PC, to this day still my most favorite RPG of all time. I can't remember what age that was, but what I do know is that I have played that game 4 times after that and finished it in those 4 times. Bought the aniversery eddition on steam, only to be dissapointed by the stupid "controller friendly" menu and the retarded auto-aim when using the bow, and untill they fix that I will just keep with the original.

The first one that comes to mind, is Flashback. Played it on my dad's Acorn PC.

Man, that game still sticks with me to this day. They made a remake of the game in 2013, haven't tried it since. But that ending of running out of the exploding alien spaceship into your ship and then putting yourself into an induced sleep to drift off into space, really struck me as a young lad.

The Secret of Monkey Island on my dad's old 086. Played through it once again when I had my first VGA monitor (originally had a Hercules monochrome) and then I also played (but did not finish) the special edition remake a while ago. I still want to replay it someday.

I've got two that I remember! But I don't know in which order. It was Doom 1 and Diablo 1 both on windows. (either 98 or ME not too sure). Got into playing it because my dad's friend was a heavy gamer and he hooked my dad up with a rig and some games :)

Another point I want to make is the question about whether or not I played the game again after finishing it. I find that every time I finish a game (if I actually finish it) that I move on to the next game. I very rarely linger for touch longer. GTA 5 is an example of that. I enjoyed playing the story so much, and the game is amazing, but after the story was completed I moved on to another game. I'll go back to GTA again every once in a while, but I never spend a lot of hours like I did in the story mode.

Hmmm...some games just feel complete once completed. There are a couple of titles I can just play and keep playing simply because. TES:Oblivion, TES:Skyrim, Mass Effect 2 & 3, XCOM, Spore and ETS2

After a little head scratching, I remembered.

This is the first game I finished:

Did a little brainstorming as to which I had first, my own (shared at the time PC) or PSOne, and my sister and I shared a PSOne before we did a PC.

Yes indeed. Some games after finishing the story feels almost as if they are played out. The problem is that even with big open sandbox games like the ones you've mentioned, after the story is completed, I feel like I'm done with the game. TES: Skyrim I finished the story and I haven't played the game for long periods of time since.

I do get the urge to replay some games again from start to finish, and if enough time has passed, it's great to revisit some of my own personal classics. I play Deus Ex almost every year at least once from start to finish.

I honestly can't remember the first game I finished - it was played on an orange monochrome monitor. For the life of me I can't even remember what the game was like.

After that we had Alley Cat, then later on commander keen. Also finished all the kings quest, space quest, police quest and quest for glory games. as well as monkey island. . . .
