The PlayStation 4 brought the next-gen into the current, but it is missing some basic features.

I also want the game standby mode to be changed, I want to keep playing from where I left off.

Especially with a game like Killzone which has a very stupid save system.

No pause for you

When I first got my PS4 I couldn’t wait to start downloading my cross-gen upgradable games. But on a 4Mbps line, 40GB takes a while.

On a PS3 you would start all your downloads, pause them all, and resume them individually. On the PS4 you will discover that there is no pause button and all the games download at once. Some were stuck at an ETA of 100 hours.

No ability to pause game downloads or updates is sad. Given the size of these downloads, this could kill a capped user – Sony, add a pause option.

That is actually pretty poor and retarded if you ask me, a pause button for downloads is a basic must have.

Hopefully most if not all of this is improved with future system updates. The inability to pause downloads and the lack of a previous downloads lists is baffling.

Sheesh no pause option :/ So what happens if you shut down the PS4? Do you have to start again? That also kind of sucks that it could possibly hog all the bandwidth for a few days while it's downloading >.<

Didn't they also exclude the option to switch off that light thingie on the controller? That would kinda irk me if I was playing in the dark...with this 'glowstick' (actually I lie - I'd probably love it!).

I'm actually not too phased about this. If you have a HTPC then that's all taken care of

Agreed, I used to always use a USB stick to watch stuff on my PS3, until i recently discovered streaming from my PC... Way easier... Cant believe they left this out...

It has a USB slot, but you cannot watch movies with it, pictures or even open PDF files. Basically the USB slot has been rendered near useless.

And it has a blue ray drive, which cannot play blu-ray movies. This is whole next console thing seems like a complete and utter waste.

Hope so. Even the Xbox360 can stream from media sources. My one mate got a S4 and it automatically detected his 360, and played via his phone and X360, to the TV. Come on man, this is old tech.

They have mentioned the firmware update so people can watch blue ray movies... I think its a bit harsh to say its like the Wii U though...

The thing is, the Next Gen consoles are so geared towards streaming media, and thats just not viable for us in SA...

Nah, Iit is. I stream netflix on my X360 all the time. Just slap a US DNS in there and its good to go.

The only thing I need on my PS4 is inFAMOUS Second Son. Couldn't care less about the media streaming/playback. I bought a console to play games, not to watch movies etc.

It can play blurays, I have one and that works fine. Think it's 3d blurays it can't play at this moment in time. Don't have a 3d tv so that has not been an issue so far.
