What's the most stuck you've ever gotten in a game?

Some of my bittersweet gaming memories were those where I simply just couldn't figure out how to progress further/beat a boss in a certain game. These were the dark-age days before we had decent affordable internet and could simply watch youtube walkthroughs.

One such instance which immediately sparks to mind is getting stuck in Half Life 2 because I am one of those gamers unfortunately afflicted by FOV sickness, so merely playing the game was sickening itself plus getting stuck just exacerbated my sickness leaving me bedridden for an hour or two.

Lol funny thing about myself I noticed is that when I get stuck my head starts to ache no matter what the game and I tend to rage. Which normally is followed by me simply giving up, putting the controller down and never touching the game again.

What are your stories? Do you eventually cave in and turn to the internet for answers?

The first Crysis...super buggy. Some of the game triggers just didn't work for me, so it just would not progress.

Ended up googling a few times for that game to work out what should have happened & how far back I must go into my save history to possibly fix it.

Also finding that I'm battling with mirrors edge quite a bit.

I made it through Mirror's Edge without too much trouble, but I remember being stuck in Super Meat Boy trying to best all the levels. My slight OCD nature compels me to finish games "properly".

Lately, I've been trying to play the Total War games, but I suck at them. This frustrates me to no end.

I got to the end of Wind Waker and I just could not figure out what to do to beat that Goddamn balloon boss.It still grates me today I don't use guides or cheats to finish games.

I had exactly the same issue. Nothing I did helped, not even starting the game from scratch. In the end I had to download a save file for the next level. The part I got stuck at, is where you're supposed to encounter the Koreans with their own suits the first time, which made it even worse for me, because I thought perhaps they were just cloaked and I had to look for them.

Had a few difficulties with Portal and Portal 2, but eventually managed after an additional 2 - 3 hours on one level lol, without walkthroughs

This! So many headaches! I remember this one room with an elevator and one cube. I had to use those fluids in some way to get past but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out.

The only game I couldn't get through even with a walk through was Riven!
The frustrated me to no end, I still have nightmares to this day.

Googled a couple of times on my Crysis 3 playthrough yesterday. Some of the stuff is less than obvious esp on the boss fights.

Could have figured it out myself but...meh no time for nonsense.

haha I have so many of these! "I wanna be the boshy" is my all time nemesis of a game but I just have to finish a part that I get stuck on.
Monkey Island also brings back some memories of being stuck for hours... Along with practically any of the "Quest" games and also Legend of Kyrandia.... If anyone remembers that F&%KING maze they will know my pain.

Also I actually got stuck a few times in this game that I played not too long ago - http://www.clawofcat.com/yahtzee/5days13.zip (Made by Yahtzee - The guy who does zero punctuation ) Good game this.

If you remember this cave you remember hating life.

First game that comes to mind is Alundra on PS1. It was the first game my parents bought for me. That game had some pretty mind boggling puzzles that I still struggle with when attempting to replay it today. Don't think a lot of people are familiar with the game but it was pretty awesome for its time.

Silent Hill 1, the piano puzzle. This was in the days before the rise of Google, so finding the solution was maddeningly frustrating. I eventually did find an answer to the puzzle and it turned out I was very close to solving it on my own. :(

O my god bro this game! Riven literally killed my soul... I eventually have a walk through downloaded, and printed out, that was bigger than most Text books, and I still struggled with it!

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within - fighting the Empress of Time. Died continuously. One of few games I decided "Fuck it, I'm done."

Serious comment: Devil May Cry 4 stuffed me around to the point where I stopped playing the game. I found out that there are huge sections of the game where you have to run back literally to the beginning of a level before you trigger the next event. However, there's nothing in the game to tell you this. So you progress through the level, killing stuff. And then NOTHING happens. You have to counter-intuitively backtrack all the way through to the beginning of the level to continue. I HATE THAT.

Not-so-serious comment: Mario Bros. I finally managed to finish the game and the princess was apparently in another castle still. So technically, you can't finish the game. Even if you do?

Those bell gargoyle things in Dark Souls.
I think it was a mental block though - as soon as I heard the music I started panicking :p

I am so completely and utterly stuck on Darksiders 1. Im looking for the pieces of some damn blade but the map is the biggest piece of unfathomable sh!t i've ever encountered. I just need 3 more pieces then the final boss.

Been stuck on this part for years.:cry::wtf::confused:
