Is VR the next gaming frontier?

VP will flop like 3D.

Too much stress is caused (nausea, headaches, etc, worse than 3D) for widespread use, unless they going to address issues with, I don't know, DNA engineering? Otherwise it will be used at most in niche markets.

Have you used one yet?

Never had chance to get one. I would like to try it sometime...

Personal usage and general public usage are different things.

Remember Dennō Senshi Porygon? I could say that I was not affected by the clip, but on other hand... Small group was affected and this implemented new standards on animation.

What if VR sets have motion sickness effect on even more wider public? That could prevent widespread usage, no company would like multiple lawsuits from people who never experienced motion sickness before, unexpectedly affected by it.

There are different contexts for "Become a flop" and "Niche market", as currently I see it as niche market product (not sold nilly willy at every IC/Dion/Makro). If it was released to general public, it would be a flop same as with 3D. I guess, it will be very difficult to rectify motion sickness issue.

I VR will be amazing, but i think everyone has to realise this is the 1st iteration. The first release of a new tech is never that great, but once it gets out there and they start working out the kinks I think it will start becoming a standard in gaming. Kind of like comparing the 1st iphone with what is currently out.

Well let's think about motion sickness, it's inevitable there is going to be some people that will be affected by this.
Also, think about another scenario; any games that adopt this support will have to redo their entire UI, they will need to change POV to accomdate for the users view and depth of field. Think about an FPS for example. On a normal screen you see the gun slightly off center, but with a VR headset on this will be coming from your right eye or between your two eyes, they will have to add depth to this as that is not VR to have a gun coming out of your face. They'll need to add distance into the equation, so you should effectively be above the gun and be able to see arms, the whole movement needs to be changed as well.

Rock* will send you an old lady in a box. Also inside the box is another box, with an assortment of items inside, among them a baseball bat, a golf club and a machete.

You may now beat the old lady until she is lying on the ground and there is a glowing pile of money beside her.

If no money appears order another old lady until you receive money.

Profit

As I said in my 1st post, this is a gimmick.

VR headsets will be heavy and ppl get motion sickness from it already. In my mind its shutter glasses 2.0
