Where can we get prescription Gunnar glasses in SA

I go to the Mellins in Fourways crossing, They are absolutely amazing... They are a Zeiss accredited optometrist, and they really are at the forefront of eye care... If any place will be able to help you locally its this place.

I pay an absolute fortune for my lenses, but they are specifically coated for prolonged use in front of computer screens. Im at a PC all day everyday and these lenses really have made a world of difference...

Solitude, the lasik eye surgery is something that I am very keen on doing. It seems my eyes are getting worse and worse with each passing moment. So rather do it now before I enter my 30's. So yes that seems to be the only option for now. Will not be a cheap or a quick fix, but a fix nevertheless.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get contact lenses, as I don't think I'll be able to stick pieces of plastic into my eyes with my bare finger. That just gives me a shiver thinking of it.

Hmmm, thanks Tom. Maybe they'll be able to help me the next time I'm in Joburg.

So at the end of the day, I have to make the option of whether I'm having surgery, or getting new glasses from the place Tom suggested...

Just bare in mind, the lazer eye surgery you should only have once your eyes have settled. If your eyes, like mine, are still getting worse year by year you will have the eye surgery and then need to have it again in a few years time. Iv got a friend who has had it done and regrets it because he is right back to where he was now. The information iv got from my optometrist is to wait until your prescription doesnt change over about 3 years, then your eyes have more than likely settled and then the surgery will be successful...

That's true. I had to wait for my eye sight to stabilise before I went for the surgery. It sucks that your eyes are getting worse DieGrootHammer!

Yeah it does. So I'll have to speak my an optometrist here in Cape Town and see what they say, but my eyes are definitely getting worse with every year. It sucks sitting in front of a screen the whole day and I need to do something. Seems I'll have to get some special made glasses then. Maybe I just need to get some big-ass Gunnars and put then over my current glasses...:p

Thanks for the feedback Solitude and Tom
