Which console to get

You guys need to learn how ps3 prox works........hehehehe

While i appreciate the technical achievement of ps3 prox, the whole point of buying a console is to be able to just plug-n-play and not have to go thru such shenanigans :-)

was that really necessary *he says, with a tear in his eye* ? :-(

Did I mention its uncapped and unshaped? :p Its suppose to be a 40mbps fiber line but due to our buildings ancient exchange I can only get up to 20. Fastest I've gotten was 19 mbps.

Check out our office's connection:

ZOMG!!! and here i was, thrilled to bits with my 3.96Mb/s downstream :-(

Yep I remember the first time I got a 512K line.

When i got my current line I updated my laptop, xbox, ps3 all at the same time and it took less than 5 minutes. WAS AWESOME.

The Kingdom of Amalur & Darkness II demos are each 1.2gb. My line dragged them down in under 2 hours. I LOVE IT!

Sorry derailing. Living in a 1st world country does have its perks. :D

I already have a great PC... The console will purely be for exclusives / console-only games that I cannot get on PC. Wish there was some console-emulator that allowed me to play console games on a pc as I really prefer playing on PC. Since I'll be buying with eBucks, the console won't actually cost me anything which is why I'm actually thinking about getting one.

I am kinda leaning towards the PS3 as Heavy Rain and Uncharted do look very attractive. Although, if the XBox Slim is somewhere available for R900 (quoted Uberutang), then heck, I can probably get both... but I don't see any specials like that anywhere.

I'll do check out which games are exclusives though and then measure up which console has the most that I'm interested in.

Good luck Viper

You can rest assured that you wont go wrong with either.......

BTW if you using ebucks check out kalahari they mailed yesterday with console specials

Mine was a pricing 'error' at Game... so unless you snoop around the normal prices will apply.

If you all ready have a gaming pc, get a PS3. Uncharted, Heavy Rain etc is really must play games. Resistance and Killzone series is also very good.

My piece of advice would be to make your decision based on which exclusives appeal to you more. I'm a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series and that's why I got a PS3.

I own both, but I use the PS3 a lot more.

If the game comes out on both consoles, I'll play it on the PS3 because it is more powerful and so they tend to put the graphics up a bit higher.

I'm a racer and the GT5 online scene is pretty big in RSA, so thats another reason I'm always using the PS3.

Then you get blueray, which is a must if you have a large screen.

The controllers seem the same to me. No issues or preferences on that side.

My PS3 phat is still running. I've had to replace my Xbox twice... first time the CD rom stopped working so I had it swapped. Then the red ring of death, so I swapped it again. Thank god for the warranty.

I'm not sure which has a better online multilayer thing going for it. From my experience that is all in the hands of the game makers, and not the console makers. For instance I have MW3 on both platforms and the way you play online is very much identical.

Overall I think it just comes down to the game you want to play (exclusives) and what you intend to do with it. If you want to watch blue-ray movies then it is a no brainer, but if not, then its a tough one.

I own a xbox 360 and I don't play online. I used to have one of the first white ones but it got the RRoD:( Luckily I bought a elite and it never gave me problems. I honestly think Xbox has better exclusives like Forza, Halo and Gears of war. But Ps3 has free offline, so if you play online go for ps3. In the end it all comes to your preference.
P.S You couldve made this a poll

I think PS3 has got better exclusives, but I've given up on PS3 after all the recent problems I've had and read about with games and devs battling to program with the split RAM.
PC gaming for me for a while at least.
If I was to be a bit cynical, I'd wait till the next gen consoles come out before looking at them.
That's what I'm gonna do.
