Which gender do you pick in games and why?

I'm a guy and I always pick female when available. I can't really explain why though, just that I prefer female characters. I often joke because they are easier on the eyes in 3rd person.

I have played male characters before if there is a scenario I want to try out that's only available to male characters. Most memorable is the threesome romance in Jade Empire.

I don't have a problem playing games where you have a fixed male character and some of my favorite games are like that, Deus Ex being at the top of the list.

I've never experienced a case in MMO's where guys would give me free stuff though, but then I don't roleplay or act feminine ingame. I'm more of the quiet type, mostly saying Hi at the beginning of a dungeon run and apologizing when I mess up.

The gender depends on the race and class i am creating in mmo games it usually balances out between femal and male

Will say that i do tend to start off with a female "ranger" type character, they tend to go through games a bit quicker so i can see wether a game is good or not

Probably female too. Don't know just weird playing with a guy chac.

And Yea, like the one guy said. Starring at the back lol

I play female characters almost exclusively. The only exception would be massive, plot-driven games with interesting characters and romances like Baldur's Gate 2, where making different choices gives you different results. The female character only has one romance option, and he's a massive tool. The male character has three options, so it's skewed pretty unfairly. I've probably played Baldur's Gate 2 through at least ten times, and three of those were male play-throughs.

I've played through Dragon Age: Origins about six times, and once was as a male, just to see what happens when you

become king (or king-consort, more accurately)
.

I feel like if you played the Mass Effect series as male Shep, then you haven't actually played the Mass Effect series. Hale is Shepard.

I almost switched from female to male in Bound by Flame, just because the female character's voice actress is annoying as shit (she sounds like Rosie 'O Donnel).

edit: I meant Roseanne Barr, not Rosie 'O Donnel.

I don't like playing MMO games, but the one time I did play Guild Wars 2, I played as a female, but it was the short bunny-race-people, so no one was like "aaaaay gurl" or whatever. Also the name 'Kimitar' doesn't exactly scream 'female', so whatever. Works for me.

Welp, that's my story.

I play as male characters, because I am a man. It makes for better game immersion.

Spot on.

I don't relate to a female character at all. I might create a beautiful female character and mess around but if Im getting serious, I go with the wingMAN.

99% of the time my characters are female - where MMOs are concerned in any case. Quite a few reasons

- There just seems to be much more variety when it comes to appearance of your character - female characters can go all the way from hot/alluring to incredibly badass on some sliding scale that just works; males do bad-ass and something I prefer not to think about. Just different versions of bad-ass.

- Females are easier on the eye in general. If I'm going to choose, I'd prefer having a female character.

- Females seem to 'fit' more easily with the class/profession types I prefer to play - which are generally spell-casters. I have female warrior-types etc, but I primarily play spell-casters.

With games outside the MMO genre, it varies. For Mass Effect/Baldur's Gate etc I played male chars, because I didn't want to be romancing a dude. And then in ME I found out that same-sex combos work ... "whistling:

I always play females in games. Why? I cannot exactly tell you, sometimes I think it is because I live my belief that women should be able to participate in everything men do, even in fantasy settings. Sometimes I think it is because my animal hind brain prefers looking at women rather than men.

I just like it. It feels weird playing a man in games. I do it sometimes but very rarely.

99% of the time i play male characters. Its like mentioned above, better immersion as a dude. Sexy time is a bit awkward when playing female chars anyway.
