Which linux distro

ok so i have been running ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick meerkat) for the past 2 years on my one pc, the reason why i never bothered to upgrade it was bacause it was the last ubuntu distro with the gnome interface as the default UI and im not a fan of the unity interface from current ubuntu distro's.

I have downloaded the latest kubuntu and linux mint distro's which one would be the the best choice, mint is based on ubuntu so ubuntu and debian packages should be compatible with it.

Lots of people like mint... it's a good distro.

I use plain old Debian Squeeze, no unity and it's Debian in the purest form... Just they can take long to release new packages... which could be a good or a bad thing...

I'd say it depends on what you want to do really...

For a standard desktop, Ubuntu is probably the best as it's best supported. For a server, Debian has that slow release cycle that means you wont have to upgrade php every 3 months, and CentOS is getting more popular due to it's long lifetime cycles.

Just stick with the newest stable release of Ubuntu, you wont be dissapointed.
