Which older games are you still playing to this day?

OK, I'll define "still play" as "spend at least an hour playing in the last 6 months".
Here's my list:

Kingdom O'Magic
Civilization 1
Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday
and a bit newer
Max Payne

Of those, Buck Rogers I break out every now and again.

Edit: I find it fascinating how the generation gap come into play even with games. I see games mentioned that I have in my steam lib and still consider relatively new :D

Baldurs Gate series
Divine divinity
Jagged Alliance 2
Xcom & Ufo series
Impressions city builders (Zeus & pharaoh)
Thief series
Deus ex
Morrowind
Half life
Transport tycoon (open ttd), locomotion, railroad tycoon 3 and roller coaster tycoon 1&2
Red alert 2
Starcraft & Warcraft
Fallout 1,2,3, tactics

Those are my comfort games. Every few months I pick one from the list and give it a bash

One game that keeps popping up (that I want to play) is Theme Hospital. Man, that was fun back in the day.

Another one that I still keep around is Arcanum. What a cool game that was. I should probably install that NOW.

Also I might add doom 1 and 2 and duke3d.

Doom 1 and 2 are still loads of fun. Finished both on the xbox 360, even though they look as shit as you expect them. Solid game mechanics, I really hope doom 4 gets released and sticks to the old formula.

IS this your first FF 7 play through? I loved FFVII, but recently downloaded FF VIII, Its my absolute favorite... The main weapon, Lion Heart, is just insane... Its such a great story line... and the card games are always awesome... They just dont make Final Fantasy games like they used to... Im a big fan of the CG, but it seems like the concentrate too much on it...

So not unlike current Blizzard games? :p Thanks for reminding me about FF8, I still need to add it to my collection. :)

Ah yes Doom. Can you believe that Doom 3 came out 10 years ago? It's still I game I played even last year still

Same, speaking of which I still need to finish RoE and the Lost Mission expansion pack from the BFG edition. :)

Yeah, it is a lot of fun. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't pick it up during the GOG winter sale. :(

You can play Theme Hospital on Android, btw. Buy the original game on GOG (if you don't already own it) and get the CorsixTH app from the play store. Just follow the instructions on how to copy the data files from your PC to the Android device. The touch interface is not too badly implemented making it quite playable.

This has to be done. Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

I loved Black and White. Was this revolutionary game when it came out. The only thing is, it got boring quite quickly. But now that you are mentioning it, I may just go and install it again, if I can find my CD...

I thought you might post in this thread because of your mod-work.

Only one on my current list is Phantasy Star II. I keep going back to that. I also have Final Fantasy V installed on my playstation, but haven't gotten around to that lately.

I noticed a lot of Bullfrog titles on the previous page which reminded me of Populous: The Beggining. I remember thoroughly enjoying playing the demo back in the day so I think I will pick up a copy from GOG after pay day. :)

You right it did get quite boring pretty quickly... Funny though i never got Black and White 2... Any idea if it was any good?

We used to play Unreal Tournament 2003 in my office at lunch time... Still an awesome FPS...

Never played the sequel. But as far as I know, this was the time when Peter Molyneux started losing the plot.

Currently on a retro trip at the moment! I play all on emulators though, not sure if thats ok or not? Anyway, playing through Shinobi 3 on Megadrive, which is a fantastic game as well as Batman & Robin on Super Nintendo. Something about 2d platformers that just does it for me. I guess because it was what I grew up playing mostly.
I am so stupendously excited when downloading a new ROM, I feel like Im a kid again except this time I have a million rand and can buy every game in the shop! I actually can't believe I am playing all these games that I used to read about in the magazines and wonder what they were like.

Can you guys remember how much a 16bit Sega cartridge cost back then? I remember clearly they were between R100 sub par(dekap-attack, DJ Boy etc. and R400 for AAA( Sonic, Desert Strike etc.) games. I must say prices for games haven't changed too much over the years.

I have to agree, im a big fan of 2D Platformers... Thats where it all started for me... There are some great Indie developers going back to this, Dont know if you have played BroForce! If not give it a google... Its awesome!

Earthworm Jim 1&2 back in the day on The mega drive. Loved that game and I even got it recently on the psn store. Fond memories when I play it, but it does kinda feel shorter. Can supposedly finish 1 in under an hour.

Rome Total War

I pick up this game at least once a month to play it. My favourite Total War to date. I've clocked so many hours into this game it's scary  I wish I had Steam all those years ago to actually count the hours
