Pope Francis reached out to gays on Monday, declaring that it is not his place to judge them -- while also condemning the Vatican's reported gay lobby as a "serious problem".

The remarks to journalists as he flew back to Rome from a high-profile trip to Brazil appeared to be more conciliatory towards homosexuals than his predecessor Benedict XVI.

"If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with good will, who am I to judge?" the pope asked.

I used to be judgmental towards gay/homosexuals, but the fact of the matter is -- I can't be.
Their lifestyle and what they do is entirely a choice of their own. I wouldn't want them, or anyone else to judge me for any of my actions or choices I have made.

I'm not Catholic and to say that I've never been a fan of the Catholic church would be a huge understatement... however, from what I've seen and heard of this new pope, I quite like and respect him.

A "lifestyle" always sounds like the "diet of the week." And "choice" in itself begs for trouble.

Dude it has been scientifically proven that gay men don't choose to be gay - they are born like that. So it's not like they have much of a choice.
