Voted for Spider-Man, loved him since I was a kid. He's my favourite Marvel hero.
DC, it would have to be The Flash or Batman.
Also, for those of you who haven't, watch The Dark Knight Returns (note, not Rises, as in the movie with Bane) - it's an animated movie, based on Frank Millers Batman comics from the '80s.
Won't spoil it for you, but it is kind of a pre-requisite to read/watch before getting into a 'Superman is unbeatable' debate.
