After Netflix told us that they fully intend on rolling out to South Africa by the end of 2016 [LINK, for those who missed the news], I wanted to know how ya'll get your non-game video entertainment.

I feel like this OP should be longer, so I added this paragraph. There is a poll. Feel free to vote :p

I use it. Been using it for a year now and it's great. Dunno what I'd do without it, to be honest. The wife abdolutely loves it.

I also use Hulu, but don't think I use it to its full degree - I watch 3 sitcoms on it weekly.

I've got DSTV for the sport. I'm a bit of a rugby fanatic so currently there's nothing but DSTV that can offer me that.

I have DSTV with Xtra view (PVR included), Boxoffice, Netflix + unotelly, Video store account (yes we still have those in the Freestate) and them Linux distros (both torrent and NZBs).
And I don't even watch a lot of TV (apart from sport and the odd movie/series). It's mostly to keep the rest of the family occupied while I game ;)

Yeah I use Netflix with Unotelly.

Unotelly is probably the best DNS service available. I can change my settings to use any of the Netflix regions as certain movies/series/documentaries have licenses that don't allow them to be aired across all regions.

Total cost per month is around R140.

I have DSTV Premium, but only watch sports on the weekend :P (there's just no other decent alternative if you like watching live sport in HD). Otherwise all my main viewing is done via Netflix. I honestly couldn't think of going back to a time without Netflix streaming. As soon as the local versions launches, I'll be switching over. I'll still keep using Unotelly and likely do my viewing in other regions, but I'm all for supporting Netflix SA if it'll help it grow.

Eh, Netfix is starved of Anime, I can't legally use CR or FUNi so I make use of HorribleSubs, Commie, THORa, Deadfish, IS, Coalgirls and sometimes OZC, and buy Blu Rays and DVD's when they are available in R2.

If you know someone else with DSTV, you can use their smartcard & decoder serial numbers and register on the Supersport website, and then you can stream most sport live. I'm using my parents DSTV info to do this.

I don't use NetFlix yet, but will take a look at it once it reaches our shores. What are the odds that our beloved FPB will want to nose around and take their cut first, potentially hampering the available line-up of shows, as what happened with XBox Live SA and the iTunes Store?

I have heard of this UnoTelly thing, but don't feel comfortable with the idea of using it.

I wanted to try out Vidi for a month in December while I was on leave. Unfortunately they do not accept debit cards. [Yes, you have to give them those details even if you are only trying out the service.]

True, but I find the quality of the stream (both in pixels and streaming over the internet) to be very poor. I tried using some international services that offered Sky/BeIN Sports channels as well, but it just ended up being more trouble than it's worth, with streams bombing out mid-way through a match. I do need to start looking at an alternative again though, as it's ridiculous paying nearly R700 for 5/6 games of football, and the odd cricket/rugby match, a month.

Used to use it in the past. Not so much anymore, now I rely on YouTube and BluRay DV's (for my son). And I couldn't be bothered for SABC/eTV.

We cancelled our subscription to DSTV more than a year ago. When my parents came to visit and my dad wanted to watch the golf, we just used their smartcard number to register for the online streaming. He was ecstatic!
