Then most of you guys missed out on the best community SA had to offer. It was none other than... the BF2 community, maybe even the 2142 community. It was quite a mature community with the odd d*ck here and there. They where usually sorted out in a friendly manner and never sticked to the game for long.
I have already seen a huge difference between the BF2 community and the BC2 + BF3 community, attitude wise.
BF2 players and clans where always helpful when asked for some tips and tricks to the game. I have made countless friends in the online community by just having random chats with random guys and girls in squads. This is one of the reason why BC2 and BF3 players has complained about no in game VOIP options when players are in a squad. I believe this would solve most of the problems to the BF3 community for then each players can learn about others players when chatting in the squad. Worked for BF2, should work for BF3. In BF2 95% of players had a headset with a mic. 95% would use in game VOIP to chat. One felt left out if they did not have that setup working. Although some preferred to never speak and this was not a problem.
BF2 also had stick rules and admins. Foul language was frowned app-on and warning would have been given to users who breached these rules and could later lead to a ban in severe cases. Logs and screenshots was used as evidence.
Just because a player is behind a screen and can be anonymous, does not mean he has to act in this way. "Pro players" should also know that when they play on public servers that skill levels might not be as high as the average clan practice/friendlies/match. There are usually servers set up for these "Pro players" like Pickup servers.

I was part of that bf2 community and it was awesome, you could always find someone to squad with and would have a good laugh in squad chat while shooting and being shot. I hardly remember getting annoyed or having to watch endless text wars with people crying at each other. Sure there are lots of teabagging but it wasnt meant in a bad way, was more of an "aweh" than anything else.
Bring on bc2 and bf3, suddenly every 12 year old has moved from COD and is all powerful behind their keyboard and monitor. Im not sure if its just because of the younger gamers or what the deal is but it ruins a lot.
I also had a dabble at TF2 but rage quit after a while because its really hard to get into a game where everyone else knows what they are doing but you dont, its like that in every game and it depends on if you are willing to put in teh time to learn it.
Bottom line for me is this:
AI in games is just pathetic and useless, it will be a long time before it matches up to a human opponent. If you are willing to play against something like that then good for you, I need more so I play online.
